Description

Lux Lunae

preview screenshot

Lux Lunae is a lightweight client-side Fabric mod that makes Minecraft nights react to the current moon phase.

Instead of using the same ambient darkness every night, the mod adjusts nighttime sky light based on the in-game lunar cycle. Full moons become brighter, new moons become darker, and the transition between phases feels more natural. A subtle configurable moonlight tint adds a cooler nocturnal atmosphere without changing gameplay mechanics.

(This is my first time at making a Minecraft mod, and I wanted to start things off with trying to implement something I think vanilla Minecraft always had missed out on. I really hate the fact that the change in the lunar phase does not affect the lighting of the ambient at all, so I made this mod to fix that. :D)

Features

  • Dynamic ambient lighting based on the current moon phase
  • Configurable brightness for each lunar phase
  • Custom moonlight tint color
  • Adjustable tint strength
  • Block light protection to keep torches, lanterns, and other light sources readable
  • Mod Menu compatible configuration screen
  • Client-side only: no server installation required

Requirements

  • Minecraft 1.21.1
  • Fabric Loader
  • Java 21
  • Mod Menu is optional but recommended for in-game configuration

Lux Lunae does not add blocks, items, mobs, or world generation. It only changes how nighttime lighting is rendered on the client.
