Restless Respawn
If you die without a bed, respawn anchor or spawn point, you don’t go back to world spawn. You respawn somewhere random out in the world instead, usually between 1,000 and 8,000 blocks away. If you do have a bed or anchor, nothing changes and you respawn there like normal.
The random spots aren’t picked when you die, because generating new terrain right then would lag the server every time. The mod keeps a list of about 10 spots that are already checked and ready, and finds them slowly in the background while people play. When someone dies, they get the next spot on the list and the mod quietly finds a replacement.
When a new world first loads, it takes a minute or two to fill the list, so there might be a bit of lag at the start. Players get a chat message warning them, and another one when it’s done. After that the list is saved with the world, so it’s already full after a restart.
Everything can be changed in the config: distances, how many spots it keeps ready, blocked biomes and blocks, the chat messages, and an optional cooldown so people can’t die on purpose to reroll their location. It only needs to be installed on the server.
