Description
Magneton
Magneton is a lightweight Forge mod for Minecraft 1.20.1 that adds a powerful item magnet feature to automatically attract dropped items and experience orbs towards nearby players. Inspired by popular magnet mods, it focuses on smooth gameplay, server performance, and configurability without breaking vanilla mechanics.
Key Features
Automatic Attraction: Dropped items and XP orbs within range are pulled towards players with smooth, suction-like movement.
Line-of-Sight Checks: Items only attract if there's a clear line of sight (no attraction through walls or obstacles).
Pickup Delay Respect: Items with active pickup delay (e.g., from mob drops) are ignored until they become available.
Cube-Shaped Range: Attraction works in a configurable cube radius around the nearest eligible player.
Global and Per-Player Controls: Admins can enable/disable globally, while each player can opt-out individually.
Server-Side Only: All logic runs on the server for fair multiplayer play; no client-side cheats.
Performance Optimized: Efficient scanning and attraction every server tick without lag.
Commands
Player Commands (Any Player) /magneton toggle
Toggles your personal magnet on/off. By default, players start with the magnet enabled (opt-out model).
Example Output: "Magneton: ON" or "Magneton: OFF" /magneton status
Shows your current personal magnet status, global magnet status, and current radius. Example Output: "Magneton: ON | global=ON | radius=10"
Admin/OP Commands (Requires Permission Level 2) /magneton global on
Enables the global magnet for all players (default state).
Example Output: "Magneton global: ON" /magneton global off
Disables the global magnet for all players (overrides personal toggles).
Example Output: "Magneton global: OFF" /magneton radius <0..64>
Sets the global attraction radius (in blocks). Range: 0 to 64. Default: 10. Example: /magneton radius 15 → "Magneton radius set to 15"
Default Settings
Global Magnet: Enabled (magnetonEnabled gamerule = true) Radius: 10 blocks (magnetonRadius gamerule = 10) Per-Player: Enabled by default; players can disable with /magneton toggle Attraction Speed: Items accelerate gently towards players (max speed capped for smoothness) Installation & Compatibility Requires Forge 47.1.0+ for Minecraft 1.20.1 Server-side mod; works on dedicated servers and single-player Compatible with other mods (no known conflicts) No dependencies
Notes
Attraction respects vanilla item behavior (e.g., no duplication, pickup delay honored) XP orbs attract slightly faster than items for better gameplay feel Use /gamerule magneton Enabled false or /gamerule magneton Radius 0 as alternatives for OP control Personal settings persist across sessions using player data
