Mega Cookery

MegaCookery is a food and cooking mod for Minecraft with more than 200 recipes.

I wanted to make a mod like this for a long time. I started with textures. I made Minecraft resource packs, tried different styles and learned how Minecraft works. My first mods were made with MCreator. I used it to learn how modding works. Later I wanted to make something more than textures, and this is how I started MegaCookery.

The idea was not just to add many random foods. I wanted players to have a reason to farm, hunt and cook.

There are many different meats in the mod. You can get meat from wolves, foxes, ocelots, turtles, goats, pandas, llamas, horses, camels, frogs, bats, axolotls, dolphins, parrots, squids, hoglins, piglins and other mobs.

There are more than 200 recipes now. Some are simple, like bacon, scrambled eggs, sandwiches and burgers. There are also soups, stews, salads, desserts and drinks. You can make pies, cheesecake, ice cream, cookies, candy, coffee, cocoa, cider and juice.

I also added some new crops. There are tomatoes, cucumbers, leeks, parsnips, turnips, rye and strawberries. Some of these plants can also be found in the wild.

Apple and cherry trees have their own wood. The trees have different stages when they grow. First they are bare, then they have flowers, and later they grow fruit that you can pick.

There are also some machines and blocks for cooking.

The Saltworks makes salt from water. It can process five containers at the same time.

Pickling Jars work a little different. Put a cucumber in the jar and carry it for about 30 seconds. After that you get a pickled cucumber.

There is also a Kitchen Table. It has a separate 3x3 crafting grid for food. Making food on it gives 1 XP.

Food also has some different mechanics. Different food takes different time to eat. Some food can give effects like Speed, Strength, Regeneration, Fire Resistance or Night Vision.

There are also some small things. Roasted hoglin meat is eaten piece by piece instead of all at once. You can also use shears on a watermelon to make a decorative block.

I am still working on MegaCookery, so some things can change. I still want to add more things to the mod, but this is the main idea I had from the beginning.
