Metal Wolf Solid: Wolf Armor & Stand

Minecraft 26.3 support is now available: download 2.0.0+26.3 for Fabric. This release includes the recipe-unlock advancement fix and has been successfully playtested in-game.

You've got a diamond chestplate and netherite boots, and your wolf still runs into a skeleton fight wearing nothing but loyalty. Man's best friend deserves better.

Metal Wolf Solid: Wolf Armor & Stand outfits your pack in the same metal ages you wear — leather for the early journey, iron and copper midgame, gold when you're feeling fancy, diamond when the fights get serious, and netherite when you're ready to take them into the depths with you. Craft a Wolf Armor Stand to show off a set in your base or armory.

Install Notes

Fabric only (Java Edition).

2.0.0 requires GeckoLib (plus Fabric API) for the wolf armor stand. Armor-only 1.0.0 builds remain listed on Modrinth without GeckoLib.

Upgrading from 1.x: The stand is additive — existing mws wolf armor items and saved data are preserved; the mod id mws is unchanged.

Fabric fork of RevampedWolf by bagu_chan, extended with equipment textures, recipes, villager trades, and a wolf armor stand incorporated from WolfArmorStand by HyeroDrimm (MIT).

Vanilla Wolf Armor (minecraft:wolf_armor) is unchanged. This mod adds separate mws armor items and a display stand.

Wolf Armor Stand

Place a Wolf Armor Stand (mws:wolf_armor_stand) to display wolf body armor the same way a vanilla armor stand shows player gear. Right-click with mws wolf armor or vanilla armadillo scute to equip; use an empty hand to remove. Punch twice to break (armor-stand style) — drops the stand and any equipped armor. Wobbles and sways when hit (GeckoLib).

Supports this mod's leather through netherite tiers (per JAR line) and vanilla minecraft:wolf_armor.

Armor Stats

Vanilla wolf armor (minecraft:wolf_armor) works differently from this mod's metal/leather tiers: it absorbs all damage from most sources until its durability runs out (1 durability per damage point absorbed). Tooltip “+11 Armor” is a known vanilla bug and should be ignored. Max durability is 64. Repair with armadillo scutes (8 durability when used on the wolf; 16 per scute on an anvil).

This mod adds Leather Wolf Armor, Iron Wolf Armor, Copper Wolf Armor, Golden Wolf Armor, Diamond Wolf Armor, and Netherite Wolf Armor — normal body-slot defense / toughness / knockback like other animal armor, with vanilla body-slot values for each material. Durability is the material multiplier × 16 (BODY unit durability — same base as a chestplate), from WolfArmorMaterials on 1.21.4+ / 26.x jars.

Vs vanilla player armor materials: durability multipliers and enchantability match leather/copper/gold/iron/diamond/netherite.

*Vanilla scute absorbs ~all damage until broken; ignore tooltip armor. Shear cost is durability lost from shears when removing armor from a wolf (vanilla shears max 238). Diamond and netherite destroy a fresh pair in one removal; lower tiers scale down (iron 50%, copper 30%, gold 20%, leather 10%). Vanilla scute stays 1.

On 1.21 / 1.21.1, defense/toughness use the same vanilla material holders (stats align with the table above). Copper is omitted from those jars. Copper is available on 1.21.9+ and 26.x only.
