"Millager — a portmanteau of militia and villager — refers to the armed defenders who stand between a village and everything that wants to burn it down." |
Millager arms the villager side of Minecraft with a standing military: specialised infantry, mounted cavalry, summoners, and constructs, supported by raid reinforcements, patrols, and military structures scattered across the world. If villagers seem too defenceless during raids, this mod gives them the means to fight back.
Version notice: Minecraft 1.21.1 and earlier builds do not include the Lancer. The 1.20.1 build does not include the Mauler.
Military Units
Up to eight autonomous NPC unit types join the villager faction, each with custom AI, sounds, and a distinct combat role.
- Archer — ranged unit that crafts and fires arrows and picks up special arrows to enhance itself.
- Lancer — mounted cavalry that charges enemies and releases a healing aura over allies. Not available in Minecraft 1.21.1 and earlier builds.
- Scouter — mounted ranged unit that fires high-damage firework rockets and sounds a horn to strengthen nearby allies.
- Swordmaster — elite duelist that wields twin swords and parries attacks with crossed blades.
- Mauler — heavy brawler that deals burst area damage with a Mace and repairs damaged equipment. Not available in the 1.20.1 build.
- Rioter — frontliner and grenadier that taunts enemies and throws TNT on a Stick and Molotov Cocktails into enemy groups.
- Doctor — summoner that constructs Iron Golems and Bee Golems, with a limit of three active Doctor-built Iron Golems.
- Breacher — mounted axe-and-Buckler warrior that breaks into enemy formations and shield-bashes nearby melee attackers when surrounded.
Bee Golem
A wax-and-glass construct deployed with Golem Amber. It locks onto a target and detonates on contact, then reverts to Golem Amber if it remains deployed for too long.
Structures
- Command Post / Ruined Command Post — naturally generated military outposts. Command Posts house Millager patrols and a Commander; ruined variants are occupied by illager patrols.
- Floating Island — a rare structure found above swamps and mangrove swamps.
- Strong Room — a guarded underground treasure vault generated deep beneath village biomes.
- Trading Hall — a large trading complex found in plains and sunflower plains, populated by villagers and protected by Iron Golems.
- Village infantry buildings — three fortified house variants integrated into plains, desert, savanna, snowy, and taiga villages. Each can deploy a small infantry garrison and contains military supplies.
The Commander is a villager profession tied to the Sand Table workstation. Commanders trade in intelligence, explosives, valuable supplies, and Muster Orders.
Raid Defense and Patrol Systems
- Raid Reinforcements — each enemy wave can trigger one or more 3–5 member Millager squads around the village. Squads have persistent leaders carrying a Villager Banner and advance toward the raid as a formation.
- Enhanced raider waves — quickly defeating an enemy wave can strengthen a later wave. The final enemy wave is always enhanced.
- Reinforcement retreats — after the raid ends, surviving reinforcements withdraw from the village and despawn. This behavior can be disabled if the player wants them to remain.
- Command Post patrols — intact Command Posts deploy Millager patrols, while Ruined Command Posts deploy an illager patrol. Each discovered structure deploys its patrols only once.
- Wilderness patrols — Millager infantry and cavalry can appear beyond village borders and patrol the surrounding terrain when enabled.
Configurable.
Orders
Muster Orders
Muster Order (Infantry), Muster Order (Cavalry), and Muster Order (Random) summon a nearby squad after a three-second use time. Each squad contains 3–5 units from the corresponding unit pool. The first unit becomes the squad leader and carries a Villager Banner. Commanders sell Muster Orders at profession level three.
Profession Orders
Profession Orders convert an adult unemployed villager or an existing Millager into the selected military role. A converted Millager remembers the player who used the order and treats that player as an ally. Available variants follow the units supported by each Minecraft version.
Items and Consumables
Explosives
- Explosive Arrow — detonates on impact.
- TNT on a Stick — a throwable TNT contraption with a four-second fuse.
- Molotov Cocktail — ignites a wide area and can convert a directly struck low-hardness block into Enduring Fire.
- Molotov Cocktail + — a stronger variant with greater direct damage and a larger ignition radius.
Equipment
- Buckler — a lightweight shield that raises quickly, preserves sprinting, and recovers faster from shield breaks, at the cost of durability and coverage.
Healing and Support
- Totem of Healing — continuously heals its carrier and breaks after accumulating three damage events.
- Elixir — clears harmful effects and grants several long-lasting buffs.
- Liquor — brewed from grain and used to craft Molotov Cocktails.
- Golem Amber — deploys the Bee Golem.
Potion of Ascension
Applies Levitation, Slow Falling, Invisibility, and Regeneration II. Available in normal, splash, lingering, and tipped-arrow forms.
Blocks
- Rose — can be obtained from Rose Bushes and can wither into a Wither Rose when potted in darkness near Soul Sand.
- Sand Table — workstation for the Commander profession.
- Totem Infuser — transfers the death-substituting power of a Totem of Undying onto another item.
- Villager Head / Illager Head — placeable and wearable heads dropped when the corresponding mob is killed by a charged creeper.
- Enduring Fire — free-standing fire that extinguishes after a set duration.
Cosmetics and Miscellaneous
- Villager Banner — carried by reinforcement and summoned squad leaders.
- Villager Head Banner Pattern — a banner pattern item.
- How to Make a Molotov Cocktail — a custom painting variant.
