Description

  • ⚠️ Unofficial Fabric port — please read

This is an unofficial, community-made Fabric port of MineColonies, created by LDTTeam (Let's Dev Together). Not affiliated with, endorsed by or supported by LDTTeam.

Original: CurseForge · minecolonies.com · GitHub · support them on Patreon

Do not send bug reports from this port to LDTTeam. Use this project's issue tracker. If the same bug reproduces on the official NeoForge build, it belongs upstream.

    What it is

MineColonies is a colony simulator: found a town and grow it from a camp into a city. Builders, farmers, miners, guards, couriers, cooks and dozens of other workers, each with their own skills. Blueprint-based building, raids, a 200+ node research tree, quests and a full colony economy — solo or on a server.

How this differs from the original

    • Loader and version: NeoForge → Fabric, Minecraft 1.21.1 → 26.2. Based on upstream branch version/1.21 (NeoForge 21.1.80, Java 21).
    • No new features. Gameplay, content and IDs are upstream's work; this project only moves the mod across loaders and versions.
    • Single jar. Fabric ports of the three required LDTTeam libraries are bundled via Jar-in-Jar: blockui, structurize, domum_ornamentum.
    • Requires: Fabric Loader 0.19.3+, Fabric API 0.154.2+26.2, Java 25. Needed on both client and server.

⚠️ Do not install the libraries separately

A jar in mods/ shadows a nested one regardless of version, silently, and the resulting crash points at source lines that don't exist. If blockui, structurize or domum_ornamentum appear at top level in your mod list instead of indented under minecolonies, remove the stray jar.

    Known limitations vs. upstream

Some NeoForge-only hooks have no Fabric or vanilla 26.2 equivalent. Nothing was deleted — it is commented and logged.

    • Colony protection: PLACE_BLOCKS/PLACE_HUTS, EXPLODE, TOSS_ITEM, PICKUP_ITEM, FILL_BUCKET, SHOOT_ARROW are not enforced. The other eleven permissions, including BREAK_BLOCKS, ACCESS_HUTS and ATTACK_CITIZEN, work.
    • Rendering: the spear renders as a flat item; the scarecrow draws without its lantern; no banner preview; the fallback citizen model shows player overlays.
    • Other: TravellingManager save-format change (one field reads back as BlockPos.ZERO in old worlds); restaurant menus parse only MineColonies' own recipes; the colony creation particle differs.
    • Core gameplay — building, jobs, AI, pathfinding, raids, research, quests — works fully. Complete list in PORT-STATUS.md.

    Credits & license

All credit for MineColonies and its libraries goes to LDTTeam and their contributors — more than a decade of work. Every worker, hut, research branch and schematic here originates with them.

Licensed under GPL-3.0-only, the same license as every upstream project above, and distributed under its terms. Complete corresponding source for each released jar is at the links above.
