Description
Mining Forks is a mod that adds a new prospecting tool type, used to detect ores hidden behind blocks.
Using a mining fork sends a resonance pulse through surrounding blocks. If a matching ore is detected, a response of a unique particle and sound will return.
Unlike standard ore detection mods, mining forks only return the material they are made from, making each specialized for their particular material. Combined with durability, this makes prospecting an acquired skill.
Mining forks are also found in Abandoned Mineshafts, with their chances and durability fully configurable.
Mod Compatibility
Mining forks includes automatic compatability with a few mods:
- If Deeper Depths is installed, Emeralds in the crafting recipe are replaced with Amethyst
- The Copper Mining Fork detects Copper (most copper-type blocks) from Deeper Depths
- The Netherite Mining Fork detects Ancient Debris from Unseen's Nether Backport
These mods are not required, although Deeper Depths is recommended for the crafting recipe.
Configuration
Mining forks are designed to be highly customizable, with every default fork being defined through the definitions system.
Using definitions, you can:
- Add new forks
- Remove or modify default forks
- Set the name for forks
- Alter the blocks each fork detects
The detection distance and range of all forks and loot generation can also be configured. This makes the mod extremely modpack friendly, such as adding new forks for any custom ores.
FAQ
A: I currently do not have any plans to port the mod, so make no plans for it. I am not outright opposed to it, but am busy perpetually with various projects, and porting will be a vast undertaking.
