Mirthdew Encore

... is a mod about entering the Twirling Dreams of the Dead, and bringing about an End to their stagnation.

Delve into their Dreams, help to cut that which ties them to the world Before, and give them one Final Show, so that they can finally move onto that which lies After.

Binding the Echoes of that which lies Between - Dreamspecks and Dreamsnares

Deep within the Darkness lies the Veric Dreamsnare, a Sculky plant which will attempt to latch onto anything the Sculk can Sense. Buried within ancient ruins, they can often be found clasping onto Dreamseeds. A Veric Dreamsnare lies in the Deep Dark, holding onto a Dreamseed above it.

In sleep, the mind Dreams; its memories blur into the Void, and a link is formed between those of the Living, and those of the Dead. As the Dream concludes, the mind returns to the waking world, yet an Echo of that connection still remains, in the form of a Dreamspeck; ephemeral and rather short lived, yet still present. Dreamsnares lie along the walls of an Ancient City. Dreamspecks are seen hovering in the air. One Dreamspeck has been caught by a Dreamsnare and is being dragged towards it.

Encased within the Dreamsnares' seeds lie Dreamspecks, engulfed by the Sculk, and yet somehow preserved by the process...

The Slumberveil - Entering the Dreams of the Dead

By engulfing a Dreamseed in Soul Fire, the link between Life and Dream is reignited; the burning souls attempt to flee their trap and into that greater purgatory beyond.

Such a link is, however, insufficient on its own: only able to let through the stray slimmer of soul now and then. In order to make proper use of this link, it must be properly bound to the world by reconnecting it with a Dreaming Mind. A Dreamseed is engulfed in Soul Fire, mostly obstructed by the flame. Behind it lies a gateway, topped with a Slumbersocket, with an Eye of Ender inside. Surrounding the area lie a few Dreamseeds.

By constructing a Slumbersocket, one can create a proper resting place for a suitable dreamer: an Ender Eye. Peering straight through the flames and shell, it is able to glance at that Dream beyond. The Eye shall Close, engulfing the Dream's Echo and falling into a deep Slumber. A deepslate gateway is present, topped with a Slumbersocket. Within the Slumbersocket is a closed purple Ender Eye. The gateway is filled with a purple Slumberveil.

As a Veil falls below the resting Eye, a gateway shall open to the Twirling Realm beyond.

Dreamtwirls - Those Twirling Paths Between

Stepping beyond the Veil, one can enter into the Eye's Dream. Isolated from the other Dreams, surrounded by the vague shadows of some Mirthful Memories, and lit by the everpresent Nova above. An image of the Dreamtwirl skybox. A fuzzy landscape is present, with a vaguely circus shaped blur in the middle. Behind the landscape is a glowing blue aurora, and a starry sky. At the center of the image is a light blue swirling vortex, the Nova, with a small purple center. Surrounding the Nova is a starry sky, with translucent unhappy souls floating up towards it. Around the border of the image is a glowing pale blue aurora.

Within the Dreamtwirl lie gateways to rooms unseen. Upon opening them, they will eject Memory Foam, forming new rooms to explore, and often new gateways beyond.

Note: Dreamtwirl worldgen is still rather barebones, and subject to future change

With all entrants' ties to the waking world temporarily weakened, the rules of reality subtly shift. Those who Dream shall hunger not; and feats that would usually be nigh-impossible in life are now only a matter of a sufficiently Mirthful mind.

Spell Cards - The Power of Mirth

Note: Spellcards are not fully implemented, and cannot yet be obtained in Survival.

Spell Cards allow the user to perform feats of Magic, at the cost of Mirth. By placing Spell Cards on top of eachother, one can form a Spell Deck. Using the Deck will cast spells from within the Deck. By combining the right cards together players can increase their overall effectiveness. A Spell Card Item, and its tooltip: 'Spell Card: "Launch Arrow", Combat, Mirthdew Encore, Name: "Launch Arrow", Mirth Cost: 12, Cast Delay: 300ms, Recharge Delay: 15ms' A Spell Deck with a Tooltip: 'Spell Deck (13 cards), #1 > "Reduce Cast Delay", #2 > "Reduce Recharge Delay", #3 > "Reduce Recharge Delay", #4 > "Reduce Cast Delay", #5 > "Reduce Recharge Delay", #6 > "Reduce Recharge Delay", #7 > "Reduce Cast Delay", #8 > "Reduce Recharge Delay", #9 > "Reduce Recharge Delay", #10 > "Triple Cast", #11 > "Fire Wind Charge", #12 > "Launch Arrow", #13 > "Lesser Fireball"'

Mirth is recovered passively within Dreamtwirls, and can be recovered outside of Dreamtwirls by consuming a Mirthdew Vial.

Encores

By starting an Encore in the Dream, one can free the souls from their slumber.

Note: Encores are not yet implemented.
