Mist Seas
No reviews yet
The oceans are gone — bottomless seas of toxic mist took their place. Mine strange ores from the blind depths, farm crystal corals in acid, tame ghost narwhals, glide the caustic skies… and mind what hunts you in the fog.

Description
🌫️ Mist Seas
The oceans of your world are gone. In their place: bottomless basins flooded with toxic, blinding mist — a second world beneath the surface, where light dies, the rain burns, and everything that lives down there has learned to hunt without eyes.
Mist Seas is an atmospheric survival-exploration mod. Descend for riches no continent can offer, build the gear to survive the descent, and decide how much of the deep you're willing to wake up.
🎒 Play it the intended way: our official modpack Mist Seas: Skies of Tomorrow — rebuild civilization in the skies with Create: Aeronautics, and raid the mist for what keeps it flying.
⚠️ Requires GeckoLib · NeoForge · 1.21.1
☠️ The Mist Is the Enemy
- Blinding, suffocating fog. Visibility collapses to a few blocks inside the seas. Without protection the mist chokes, intoxicates and pollutes — and its creatures will find you long before you see them.
- ☔ Acid rain. When storms roll over the seas, the rain dissolves exposed flesh — and fat caustic droplets burst against anything poking above the mist, eating through plank-tier blocks. Bridges and airships over the seas need acid-proof materials or constant repair. The mist itself is shelter: what lives below never feels the rain.
- 🧪 Acid pools pit the deepest seabed dips. They melt almost everything — but that's exactly what makes them useful (read on).
- 😷 Respirators & filters are your first lifeline; niobium auras and the legendary Purified Rose are your endgame peace with the mist.
- 🧭 Mist Compasses and Misty Maps exist because ordinary navigation simply doesn't survive down there.
⛏️ Riches of the Basin
The seabed is the richest mining ground in the world — if you can work blind.
- Every overworld ore — including ores from your other mods, automatically — studs the basin soil.
- 🪱 But the ores are infested. Ember Vermin nest inside ore blocks (modded ones too) without changing the block. Mine the wrong vein and something furious pops out of it.
- 💎 Corrupted Stone-Coral — chorus-like petrified colonies, tinted in flowing color gradients unique to each sea. Harvest their Ore-Buds with any pickaxe and throw them into acid: they dissolve into random raw ores, weighted by true worldgen rarity. Colonies slowly regrow their buds — a renewable, farmable ore source (and contraption-proof: no airship strip-mining).
- 🔮 Niobium, the mist metal: repels the fog in block form, floats on mist as boats, and anchors the purification ritual.
👾 What Hunts in the Fog
- Fungal Pursuer — a swift spore-clad horror that runs prey down by sound.
- Mucus Stalker — an ambush predator with a sonic blast, lurking in the fungal overgrowth.
- 🪱 Ember Vermin — the basin silverfish: ember-veined, ore-nesting, furious when evicted.
- 🦀 Vermin Scavenger — a three-block-tall crusher crab with a bioluminescent purple crystal carapace. Peaceful until struck, it stalks the seabed rapping on ore blocks to shake vermin out — then crushes them in one claw. Drops meat, and very rarely a Crystal Chitin: combine it with a tool in an anvil for Silk Touch.
- 👻 Phantoms are native here — they dive into the mist to smother their burns, and they hunt…
- 🐋 Ghost Narwhals — rare, pale leviathans cruising the open air above the seas, their glowing emerald tusks shedding fog-protection on everything near them. Tame one and ride it. Guard its horn: the mist eats it away, and with it, its protection.
- 🛑 The Mist Warden — a colossal boss sleeping beneath the great crystal spires. Summon it with a wither rose at the Mist-Heart, survive it, and its Mist Rose unlocks the purification ritual that ends the mist's hold on you. All mist creatures fear the Purified Rose — and every one of them burns in open daylight, outside their fog.
🪁 Take to the Skies
- 🪂 The Mist Glider — an Air-Nomad-style glider staff of niobium, phantom membrane and sticks. Right-click in the air and its great fans snap open: elytra flight from either hand, no chestplate slot lost. No durability, no enchantments, no firework boosting — pure gliding. Dyeable like leather armor, folded or flying.
- 🎈 Updraft Bundles — burst four Weightless Sacs (a pursuer drop) bound with string while standing on solid ground: a violent updraft launches you ~60 blocks skyward in seconds. Going up is easy. You brought the glider, right?
- ⛵ Niobium Boats float on the mist itself; misty cartography keeps you found.
🌳 A World Worth Seeing
Two full fungal ecosystems (Mire and Gloom) with complete wood sets, glowing Misty Lights, Ember Lichen veins, dead-sea gardens of stone-coral shifting through living color gradients, crystal spires blazing over the toxic centers — the seas are as beautiful as they are lethal, and the flora itself breathes in slow waves of shade across whole biomes.
🚀 Status & Community
Mist Seas is an active work-in-progress — the miasma keeps shifting, and balance shifts with it.
