Mob Watching (Datapack)

This mod adds almost 2,000 advancements that catalogue nearly every mob variant in Minecraft. Simply grab a spyglass and look at each mob to complete it's personal advancement. Each one comes with a fun, custom description, and your total is kept track of in the main Mob Watching advancement branch.

Race your friends to see who can collect the most mobs in an hour, or add it to your existing world and see if you can find them all!

I was inspired to make this by ekvyn and his kill all mobs video/datapack, but I wanted to change a few things. I felt like the list of mobs could be expanded, and I wanted to encourage players to trap all of the mobs instead of killing them.

All shown advancements can be collected in survival. Any variants or mobs that are exclusive to creative are in the pack as hidden bonus advancements that don't count towards the final total.

How did I determine variants? There were two rules that I followed during this project:

1. The mob must either have a different texture, sound, or behavior. (Not including clothing/equipment) Example: Tamed dogs are counted seperately from wolves due to the way their eyes change. Tamed cats are not since the only difference is the added collar, which falls under clothing.

2. The player must be able to keep them in that state indefinitely. Example: Bees stay covered in pollen as long as they can't return to their nest, so they're counted as a variant. Pufferfish have three stages of inflation that look different, but there's no way to keep them like that, so they're not counted.

The cracking iron golem variants are there, but don't contribute to the larger totals because of how inconsistant and precise they are. I wanted to acknowledge them, but didn't want players to become frustrated if they didn't work.

No AI was used in this project. All descriptions were thought of by me, friends, and family members. Icon made with the Mannequin mod.
