MoreCulling + Noisium Backport

MoreCulling + Noisium Backport brings rendering and world-generation optimizations inspired by MoreCulling and Noisium to Minecraft 1.16.5 Fabric.

This project combines optimizations targeting both client-side rendering performance and server/world-generation performance into a single backport for older Minecraft versions.

MoreCulling focuses on reducing the amount of unnecessary geometry Minecraft renders.

This backport includes optimizations such as:

Improved block face culling Reduced rendering of hidden block faces Better handling of leaves and transparent blocks Reduced overdraw in dense environments Rendering optimizations designed to improve FPS in large builds and forests Noisium-inspired optimizations

Noisium focuses on improving world-generation performance and reducing overhead during terrain generation.

This backport includes optimizations targeting:

Noise generation performance Chunk generation efficiency Reduced CPU overhead during terrain generation Improved scalability during world creation and exploration Why combine two mods?

MoreCulling and Noisium improve different parts of Minecraft performance, making them good candidates for a combined backport project.

Instead of requiring multiple separate backports, this project bundles related rendering and world-generation optimizations into a single mod for easier installation and maintenance on 1.16.5.

About the Backport

This project adapts optimization concepts from modern Minecraft versions for use on Minecraft 1.16.5 Fabric.

Because older versions use different rendering and world-generation internals, some implementations have been rewritten or adjusted specifically for the 1.16.5 engine and Fabric ecosystem.

Not every feature from the original mods may be included, but the goal is to preserve as many useful optimizations as possible while maintaining stability and compatibility.

Why?

Many players still enjoy older Minecraft versions, especially 1.16.5, but optimization support for those versions has slowed down significantly over time.

This project exists to help bring modern optimization improvements back to older versions so players and modpacks can continue benefiting from newer performance work.
