LATEST VERSION - 1.1.0
Inspired by the TV series FROM, Morrowless is a dark horror-adventure mod built to make Minecraft survival feel dangerous, unfamiliar, and worth exploring again.
When night falls, the world stops behaving the way you remember. New creatures start roaming, each with its own way of hunting you. Strange structures show up far from safety, forgotten records hint at things that were never meant to be understood, and some encounters are a lot more dangerous than they first look.
Morrowless isn't about throwing stronger mobs at you — it's built around tension, exploration, atmosphere, and discovery.

It expands Survival, it doesn't replace it
You can still build, mine, explore, visit villages, and progress through the game the normal way — the world just isn't quite as safe or predictable as you remember it.
Most of what Morrowless adds is meant to be found naturally while you're playing: creatures roaming the world, unfamiliar locations turning up far from home, records surfacing while you explore, and encounters that ask for a bit more than just swinging a sword.
You're not supposed to understand everything you run into right away. Some places are dangerous, some are useful, and a few won't make sense until much later. Not every strange place is hostile, and not every discovery explains itself — figuring out what the world has turned into is part of the fun.
What Morrowless adds
- Original hostile creatures — unique appearances, behaviors, attacks, animations, and sound design
- Major boss encounters — their own mechanics, phases, visual effects, arenas, and rewards
- New structures and locations scattered across the world, from abandoned underground sites to settlements and stranger landmarks
- Exploration-driven lore, told through recovered documents, journals, and environmental clues
- A persistent Journal to collect and revisit everything you've uncovered
- New weapons, materials, items, and rewards tied to exploration and dangerous encounters
- Custom world generation that gives you reasons to leave familiar territory
- Dark ambient audio and atmosphere — nights, caves, forests, and isolated places feel a lot less comfortable
- Systems built to blend naturally into vanilla villages, loot, mobs, and Survival progression
Some of these things will find you before you find them.

The creatures
The creatures in Morrowless are meant to feel nothing like ordinary Minecraft mobs. Each one has its own appearance, behavior, attacks, animations, and sounds, and each puts pressure on the player in a different way — some chase relentlessly, some try to control space, and others act in ways that aren't obvious at first.
I've deliberately avoided spelling out how every creature works. Figuring out how something hunts, attacks, or reacts is meant to happen through actually running into it.

Places worth finding
Catacombs — large underground ruins with hostile encounters, loot, and pieces of the world's history. Not the friendliest place to walk into unprepared.
Lake Settlements — isolated settlements built around remote lakes, holding supplies, records, and encounters tied to their surroundings.
Talisman Huts — small, uncommon shelters tied to one of Morrowless' most useful survival mechanics. Worth checking out whenever you spot one.
Veilbloom Trees — rare, unmistakable landmarks that clearly matter more than an ordinary tree. What they actually do is better discovered in-game.
You might also stumble onto Morrowless lore and items inside vanilla locations — so even a regular village can occasionally hint that something in the world has changed.
Talismans
One of the most useful things you can find is a Talisman. They can be picked up through exploration and certain locations, or crafted, and once placed they create a protected space against a lot of the creatures roaming outside.
They won't make Survival completely safe, though — creatures can still linger nearby, react to you, or make it pretty clear they know you're there. Finding shelter and actually being safe aren't quite the same thing.
Lore & Journal
While exploring you'll come across journals, reports, records, and warnings left behind by people who ran into this world before you. You can read them on the spot or keep them in your persistent Journal, slowly building an archive of everything you've found.
None of the lore is required reading, but if you pay attention, you'll start piecing together how the creatures, locations, and events connect.
About the development
Morrowless is a solo project built with the help of ChatGPT for the coding side. I started this without any programming background, and used AI-assisted development to turn my ideas, designs, and gameplay goals into an actual working mod.
Everything else — the direction, feature design, balancing, testing, and the final calls on what makes it into the game — comes from a lot of hands-on iteration and in-game testing on my end.
Morrowless is very much a work in progress, and I'm planning to keep expanding it based on my own ideas and on feedback from players.
