[MR] Fuel Fix is a lightweight quality-of-life mod that fixes an annoying vanilla Minecraft bug where shift-clicking fuel into furnaces fails if the smelting slot is occupied or full! No more tedious manual drag-and-dropping of logs, planks, or sticks — items are now intelligently redirected straight into the fuel slot.

This mod was created using AI under human supervision. I do not monetize on CurseForge — just enjoy the game!

What can this mod do?

Smart Fuel Redirection

• No More Stuck Items: Have ores smelting and want to quickly add wood or sticks as fuel? In vanilla, Shift-clicking does nothing because the game gets stuck trying to put them into the top slot. This mod automatically routes the items directly into the fuel slot!
• Split Stack Handling: If the top smelting slot can only accept a portion of your wood/fuel stack, the remaining items smoothly flow right into the fuel slot instead of bouncing back to your inventory.
• Full Workstation Coverage: Works seamlessly across all vanilla heat-based workstations: Furnace, Blast Furnace, and Smoker.

Compatibility & Integration

• Recipe Mods Friendly: Fully compatible with custom recipe mods (including [MR] Recipe Editor), ensuring items that are given custom smelting recipes can still be used as fuel without lockups.
• Multiplayer Ready: Works seamlessly in Singleplayer, LAN, and dedicated multiplayer servers (Client & Server).
• Bilingual Localization: Full support for both English (en_us) and Russian (ru_ru).

Technical Details (For Developers)

The Vanilla Flaw

In vanilla Minecraft, AbstractFurnaceScreenHandler.quickMove checks if (this.isSmeltable(itemStack)) before checking isFuel(itemStack). When an item can be both smelted and burned as fuel (planks, logs, sticks, blaze rods):

1. The game attempts insertion into slot 0 (input).
2. If slot 0 contains an incompatible item or is full, insertItem returns false.
3. The method instantly exits with ItemStack.EMPTY.
4. The else if (this.isFuel) check is never reached!

How [MR] Fuel Fix Resolves It

The mod injects smart redirection logic: if the input slot cannot accept the item and the item is valid fuel, it immediately attempts insertion into slot 1 (fuel slot) before falling back to player inventory/hotbar cycling.

Installation & Dependencies

Required:

• Only the Fabric or NeoForge core; other mods, such as Fabric API, are not needed.

How to install:

1. Download the latest .jar file from CurseForge or GitHub Releases.
2. Place it into your .minecraft/mods folder.
3. Launch the game and enjoy!
