A lightweight, server-side death chest mod for Minecraft 26.2 (Fabric).
When you die, all your items are saved in a chest at your death location — ready to pick up with a single left-click.

✨ Features

  • 📦 Automatic chest spawning on death — single or double chest depending on item count
  • 👆 Left-click to retrieve all items instantly back into their original slots
  • 🎯 Smart slot restoration — items return to the exact slots they were in before death
  • 🌊 Replaces liquids — spawns in water or lava without issue
  • 🧱 Guaranteed spawn — 3-phase search algorithm ensures a chest always appears:
    • Phase 1: Same column ±50 blocks up/down
    • Phase 2: 100×100 area ±20 Y around death point
    • Phase 3: Obsidian platform fallback — always spawns
    • 🌀 Void death support — configurable behavior when dying below world height
    • 💥 Explosion monitoring — detects externally destroyed chests and cleans up state
    • 🏷️ Named chests — Lars's death chest shown in chest UI and as floating text display
    • 📋 Detailed log file — all events saved to logs/deathchest.log
    • ⚙️ Admin commands — configure on the fly without restart
    • 🌍 Multilingual — English, German, French, Simplified Chinese

🖱️ How it works

  1. You die → chest spawns at death location with all your items
  2. A floating text label shows the chest owner and instructions
  3. Left-click the chest → items return to your inventory in original slots
  4. If inventory is full, remaining items stay in the chest
  5. Chest disappears after left-clicking (no free chest exploit!)
  6. Right-click still opens the chest normally

Requires OP level 2.

Command Description
/deathchest info Show active chest count and current settings
/deathchest list List all active death chests with owner and position
/deathchest voidmode NEAREST_BLOCK Spawn chest on nearest solid block when dying in void
/deathchest voidmode DISABLED No chest, no message when dying in void

🐛 Known Issues / Notes

  • The "Mismatch in destroy block pos" warning in server logs is a harmless Vanilla behaviour with double chests and can be safely ignored.
