Description

Mystery Loot Chests

Discover a box. Roll your reward. Claim your luck.

Two animated, double-width mystery chests bring weapons, armor and tools into your exploration. Watch equipment cycle above the open lid, inspect the revealed item and its enchantments, then claim your reward before time runs out.

Two chests

Wooden Mystery Chest — reinforced timber, metal bands and warm arcane details. Found in villages, abandoned mineshafts, desert pyramids, jungle temples and igloos.

Skeletal Mystery Chest — dark carved panels, a central skull and cyan highlights. Found in ancient cities, Nether fortresses, bastion remnants, strongholds, End cities, woodland mansions and pillager outposts.

How to play

  1. Open — right-click either half to start the roll.
  2. Reveal — watch the equipment cycle, then inspect the reward name and enchantments.
  3. Claim — right-click again before the claim window ends.
  4. Move on — the item disappears, the lid closes, and the used box vanishes in white smoke.

By default, rolling takes 6 seconds, the claim window lasts 20 seconds, and there is no emerald cost. Rewards belong to the player who started the roll. A full inventory keeps the prize available instead of silently discarding it.

Settings

The 26.3 vanilla equipment catalogue includes 2,048 compatible outcomes, including enchantment variations. This is a count of reward combinations, not 2,048 different item types. Compatible equipment from installed mods can join the pool automatically; support depends on the mod and item implementation.

  • config/mysterybox.json — rewards, weights, equipment inclusion/exclusion, timings and emerald cost.
  • config/mysterybox-worldgen.json — structures, chest variants, spawn probability and limits.

World generation: chests appear in newly generated chunks only. Default settings attempt frequent placement, but a supported location and space for both halves are required. A chest is not guaranteed in every structure.
