Neutral Monsters: Stealthy Peaceful Mode
Have you found Minecraft's monsters scary or annoying? Does the peaceful mode lack excitement without foes and hunger? This datapack addresses that: Monster's keep spawning on easy/medium/hard but don't attack you - if you stay careful around them and don't provoke them.
The idea behind this datapack was to not just have hostile mobs that you can easily avoid, but to actually allow scary and exciting moments with them. If you keep a reasonable distance and don't linger too long in their presence, you're fine. But if you are careless or rush through the night, you might get pulled into a fight. And when you're fighting, many bystanding mobs might join up against you.
For a more peaceful experience you can check out my 'light' version of this datapack: Neutral Monsters: Better Peaceful Mode keeps Monsters friendly unless you attack them - no need to be stealthy. Both mods are based on the discontinued Neutral Hostiles mod by SamDev-7.
What this datapack does:
-
Hostile mobs are 'neutral' or 'passive' and do not attack players unprovoked.
-
Attacking a neutral mob turns it hostile.
-
Herd aggression: Upon attacking a neutral mob, other mobs that are nearby turn hostile as well, like a pack of wolves. Be careful about this, the radius of this herd behavior is quite large.
-
Running too close to a neutral mob turns it hostile.
-
Bumping into a neutral mob turns it hostile.
-
Loitering close to a neutral mob, turns it hostile. When you get too close, a soundeffect starts playing and the mob slows down. If you don't get away quick enough, it starts attacking.
-
When a neutral mob takes damage from any source while you're closeby (loitering) it turns hostile.
-
A cooldown will eventually turn hostile mobs back into their neutral state, unless you keep attacking them.
-
A subtle sound effect plays everytime a mob turns hostile.
Neutral mobs:
The following mobs are affected:
Blaze, Bogged, Breeze, Cave Spider, Creeper, Drowned, Elder Guardian, Endermite, Evoker, Ghast, Guardian, Hoglin, Husk, Magma Cube, Parched, Phantom, Piglin Brute, Pillager, Ravager, Shulker, Silverfish, Skeleton, Slime, Spider, Stray, Vex, Vindicator, Witch, Wither Skeleton, Zoglin, Zombie, Zombie Villager.
Still angry:
The Creaking, Ender Dragon, Warden and Wither remain hostile. Vex turn immediately hostile when summoned by an angry Evoker.
Compatibility:
Datapacks and Mods or plugins that use teams will probably not be compatible.
Performance:
This datapack should be very lightweight despite regularly checking and keeping track of a possibly large number of mobs. For reference: My Framrate dropped by 1% when I enabled it with roughly 100 crammed hostile mobs nearby and around 250 mobs loaded total. This was on a midrange PC. An impact on performance could be more noticable on a server with lots of simultaneous players and monster farms.
