✨ Gear Upgrades — A Smarter Enchantment System

This mod replaces traditional enchantments with a new system of gear upgrades, offering a more logical and material-based approach to tool progression.

🛠️ Gear Upgrades Instead of Enchants

Each tool or armor piece can be upgraded up to 4 times:

  • 2x durability upgrades (Unbreaking-style)
  • 2x gear-specific upgrades (like Efficiency or Sharpness)

💥 How it works:

  • Durability upgrades are applied by simply repairing the item
    • 1st repair = Unbreaking II
    • 2nd repair = Unbreaking IV
    • It costs more, but the tool lasts much longer
  • Gear-specific upgrades are applied with materials on a smithing table or anvil:
    • Efficiency → Gold (2 upgrade equivalent to efficiency 5)
    • Protection → Iron
    • Sharpness → amethyst shard

  • Tridents and maces support Sharpness and are fully repairable:
    • Trident → Prismarine Shard
    • Mace → Blackstone

🧱 Enchantment Capacity by Material

Each item has a maximum number of enchantment levels it can support, based on the material it’s made from:

Material Max Enchantment Points
Wood 3
Stone 4
Leather 4
Iron 5
Diamond 6
Netherite 7
Gold 8

Enchantments that don’t have levels (like Soulbound and mending) don’t count toward the enchantment point total.

This system encourages material progression — stronger materials support more magic, but require greater investment.

📦 Enchanting Overhaul

  • The enchantment table no longer previews enchantments
  • Enchanted books are more common in loot chests
  • All enchantments are capped at level 3
  • No more mutually exclusive enchantments — except:
    • Silk Touch vs Fortune
    • Riptide vs Chanelling &  loyalty

🆕 New Enchantments (7 Total)

Name Description
Soul Bound Keep gear on death, but lose enchantment
Inhumain Bonus damage vs humanoids (players, villagers, witches)
Berserker Axe deals more damage the lower your health
Magic Protection Reduces damage from magic & thorns
Reach Extends attack & block reach
Excavator Break multiple blocks in a pattern (1 = line, 2 = cross, 3 = 3x3)
Syphon Trident kills heal the user

📖 New Item: The Sister Tome

Combine this item with any enchanted book on an anvil to create a duplicate of that book.
