Description

NickMask Fabric Mod

NickMask is a server-side Fabric mod for Minecraft Java 1.21.11.

It hides player names in public-facing messages by replacing them with a small symbol mask like "<#@!>".

What This Mod Does

  • Masks player names in normal public chat
  • Masks player names in advancement announcements
  • Masks the killer name in death messages
  • Keeps the dead player's name visible in death messages
  • Keeps whispers and private messages readable

Example Behavior

Public chat:

<#@!> hello

Advancement:

<#@!> has made the advancement [Stone Age]

Death message:

Steve was slain by <#@!>

Whisper:

  • Still shows the real sender name

Server Requirements

  • Minecraft Java 1.21.11
  • Fabric Loader
  • Fabric API
  • Java 21

Install

  1. Open your Fabric server folder
  2. Open the mods folder
  3. Put this file into it:

nickmask-1.0.0.jar

  1. Make sure Fabric API for 1.21.11 is also in the same mods folder
  2. Start or restart the server

What It Does Not Hide

  • Nametags above players
  • Player names in the tab list
  • Usernames in server files or logs
  • Names added by other mods if they bypass vanilla-style message formatting

Notes

  • This mod is server-side
  • Players usually do not need to install it on their own client
  • If another chat mod rewrites messages after this one, that other mod may override the masking
