About

Description

One part Mana and Artifice runes, one part Apotheotic Bosses and one part Tinker's Construct, NNP Rune Smithing is a mod about exploring the world, finding lost knowledge, fighting suped up mobs, mining new ores, melting them into colorful alloys, and casting them into powerful runes. Guidebook entries will unock organically as you progress.

Core features include:

  • Rune arrays - enchant the world!
  • Rune enhanced equipment - mod compatible
  • Rune enhanced mobs (natural spawn only right now)
  • Data driven ore processing system - built in support for popular mods

This mod has a number of systems which can work together, but can also be explored separately. To start this mod, craft the guidebook and earn your starters pack. Alternatively, loot an enhanced mob or explore a vanilla structure and find a template. Or craft yourself a melter, a casting table, and fire clay, and get started with ore processing. Whatever you do, don't forget to make yourself an in-game guide.

Note 1: this mod isn't a replacement for MnA, Apotheosis, Tinkers, etc. Because it does many things, it doesn't go into depth on any of them... except runes. That's where the depth lies.

Note 2: the guidebook is controlled by advancements. If you want spoilers, that's how you unlock them.

Note 3: This mod is a work in progress. Well, on hiatus, really. I'll probably resume development soonish, but I figured it's time to share what I have... er, had when I started my hiatus a couple months ago. Most of the endgame content isn't in yet and a few mechanics are jankier than I'd like.

You can install LambDynamicLights to make light runes funner.

  • Visual settings
Visual settings Runes look janky on your modded gear? Disable rendering. Want to organically discover rune magic? Hide the names of unknown runes - they'll be revealed when you find them.
  • Highly Configurable
Highly Configurable Balance to taste! Also, adjust rune cost if they feel too cheap/expensive. WARNING: config options have spoilers.
  • Discover things as you progress
Discover things as you progress Optionally, rune names can be hidden until you find them in-game.
  • Enhanced Mobs
Enhanced Mobs ~1/100 mobs (configurable) will spawn with runic enhancements. Kill them to claim the rune that empowers them. (Optional, everything in tis mod can be done with exploration and crafting.)
  • Melt, alloy, cast.
Melt, alloy, cast. Automation friendly ore processing. This system is also used to create new runes - color and tier depend on the metal.
  • Molten metals
Molten metals These aren't just an abstraction. Every molten metal is a real fluid, with temperature based color, light emission, and fire damage. (Un)Safe for decoration!
  • JEI
JEI Full support for every recipe. However, you'll need to do some experimentation to find out what the rune combos do - results automatically "recorded" in guidebook.
  • Templates
Templates Can be found in the world or crafted at a whittling table.
  • Runic Anvil
Runic Anvil Inspired by the MnA anvil, this can be used to do more than just enchant your gear -> runes provide powerful, stacking buffs.
  • Whittlin'
Whittlin' Want to share with friends? Need an extra template for automation? The whittling table has you covered.
  • Lots of ores
Lots of ores ... provided as a convenience to pack devs. Only a few will naturally spawn. Don't waste your time looking for "alloy ores"... unless your pack dev added them!
  • Water in the Nether?
Water in the Nether? Use the endgame "Amplify" rune to dramatically enhance the power of your arrays. With amplification, this water rune has become powerful enough to hydrate the nether.
  • Enhanced Creeper
Enhanced Creeper A wasp is to a bee as an blast-proof creeper is to its vanilla counterpart. Think of the potential for redstone engineering!
