No Narrator

Disables the vanilla Ctrl + B Narrator hotkey.

What this mod does

In vanilla Minecraft, pressing Ctrl + B toggles the Narrator on and off. If you hit that combination by accident during normal play, the game suddenly starts reading every on-screen message out loud — annoying, and not obvious how to stop.

No Narrator does exactly one thing: it intercepts that single hotkey. Nothing else.

  • ✅ Blocks only the Ctrl + B Narrator toggle.
  • ✅ The Narrator itself is not disabled — you can still enable it from Options → Accessibility Settings.
  • ✅ Other key bindings, chat, game audio and every other game feature are left untouched.
  • ✅ Client-side only. No server installation needed and no server-side effect.
  • ✅ No config menu, no commands, no extra features. Install it and forget it.

A single JAR covers an entire version line — you do not need a separate file per patch version.

Installation

  1. Install the matching mod loader (Fabric Loader, Forge or NeoForge) for your Minecraft version.
  2. Download the JAR for your version line and loader from the table above.
  3. Drop the JAR into your .minecraft/mods folder.
  4. Launch the game — no configuration required.

Roadmap

  • Ongoing: keep every version line updated as new Minecraft releases and loader versions arrive.
  • Downward support: continue extending support to older Minecraft versions, working gradually all the way back to 1.12.2.
