Nollywel's Combat Mobs
This mod adds several new mobs into the game, focusing on interesting combat mechanics and interactions. Rather than adding many generic mobs that are all effectively the same, I try to add only a handful, but make each of them unique and interesting.
Current Mobs
Necromancer
A new illager, who spawns during raids. He raises nearby fallen villagers and illagers as zombies, and heals whenever an undead creature nearby is killed.
Morana
Morana is the goddess of winter. She is a new boss mob for you to try to find and defeat. She can be found on special icebergs in cold oceans, and uses her environment to her advantage, trying to throw you into the water and freeze you to death.
Finding
To fight Morana, you first need to find her. The best way to do so is to obtain a Cracked Snowglobe, which rarely drops from Strays, or can be purchased from wandering traders. Right-clicking the snowglobes makes a small snow cloud appear in the direction of the nearest iceberg one can find Morana on.
When you find the iceberg, you must summon Morana by lighting the candle on the altar in the middle of the iceberg.
Combat strategy
Morana uses several special attacks to fight you. She can spawn a flock of frost spirits to harass you, summon clouds of hail that damage you even if you're hidden behind an obstacle, or make ice spikes emerge from the ground, throwing you around.
Her most devastating power is however more subtle. She affects all nearby players by Hypothermia. A potion effect that makes water deadly for you. All her other attacks have one goal - throw you off the iceberg into the freezing water around, and let the cold finish you off.
Loot
When you defeat Morana you can get her staff, which allows you to use her ice spike and hail attacks, as well as her hair, which you can use to create a banner pattern to use as a trophy reminding you of your victory. This hair can also be used to get Guelder Rose, which is a new plant that allows you to brew potions of Frostbite, which you can use to give Hypothermia to others. You can also use Guelder Rose to craft a new building block - Ice bricks.
Turret
A crossbow on legs. Helps you fight monsters. Currently only available in creative mode.
Other features
Slick Blocks
Slick blocks are impossible to place blocks againts. Useful for dungeon where the player is supposed to do parkour, or just to trap your friends in a hole they can't pillar their way out of. Currently only available in creative mode.
Grounded effect
A new potion effect that makes players trying to use elytra to fly plummet to the ground. Useful for when you want to force your friend to not flee like a coward, but face you in PvP. Also used by boss mobs to make fights more dynamic (configurable via gamerule). Currently only available in creative mode.
Building Fatigue
A new potion effect that pakes players unable to place blocks. Currently only available via commands.
Paintings
Currently the mod adds one Morana-themed painting to the game. More paintings with the different bosses are planned for the future.
Future Plans
I hope to add more mobs and bosses to this mod. Each of the bosses should follow a similar pattern as Morana, with loot including a banner pattern, and something that allows the player to use their unique abilities againts others.
