Description
Null Field Emitters
Null Field Emitters adds three placeable field generators that prevent Sophisticated Backpacks magnet upgrades from collecting dropped items and experience within a configurable area.
The mod is designed for workshops, storage rooms, farms, Create factories, public server areas, and any other location where player magnets interfere with item transport or automation.
Features
- Three progressively larger field emitters
- Block-aligned cubical protection areas
- Configurable range for every tier
- In-world range visualization
- Full Sophisticated Backpacks magnet compatibility
- Normal item pickup remains functional
- Hoppers, belts, funnels, chutes, importers, and other automation remain functional
- Recipes appear in the vanilla recipe book
- Recipes are automatically visible in JEI when JEI is installed
- All emitters appear in the Functional Blocks creative tab
- Works in single-player and on dedicated servers
Emitters
| Emitter | Default Range | Total Protected Area |
|---|---|---|
| Null Field Emitter | 16 blocks in each direction | 33 × 33 × 33 |
| Resonant Null Field Emitter | 64 blocks in each direction | 129 × 129 × 129 |
| Quantum Null Field Emitter | 256 blocks in each direction | 513 × 513 × 513 |
The emitter itself occupies the center block. A range of 16 therefore protects the emitter block plus 16 blocks in every direction along the X, Y, and Z axes.
The complete cubical area is protected, including its corners.
Range Display
Right-click an emitter to display the boundary of its active field.
The display includes:
- The outer edges of the protected cube
- Center guide lines
- Boundary markers aligned with blocks
- A distinct color for each emitter tier
Sneak-right-click the emitter to hide the range display.
The preview is client-side and does not change the field itself.
Configuration
The default ranges can be changed independently through the Forge server configuration.
Configuration file:
<world folder>/serverconfig/nullfield-server.toml
Default settings:
[ranges] nullFieldEmitter = 16 resonantNullFieldEmitter = 64 quantumNullFieldEmitter = 256
Each range can be set from 1 to 4096 blocks.
Existing placed emitters use the current configured value, so they do not need to be broken and replaced after changing the configuration.
Forge-compatible configuration menu mods may also expose these settings in-game.
Recipes
The recipes use only vanilla Minecraft and Sophisticated Backpacks components.

What the Field Blocks
Null Field Emitters stop remote magnet collection performed through Sophisticated Core.
They do not disable:
- Normal player pickup when walking over an item
- Hoppers
- Create belts
- Funnels
- Chutes
- Mechanical arms
- Refined Storage importers
- Other ordinary item transportation systems
This allows automation to continue working while preventing a nearby player's backpack magnet from stealing items.
Requirements
- Minecraft 1.20.1
- Minecraft Forge
- Sophisticated Core
- Sophisticated Backpacks
Both the client and server must have the mod and its required dependencies installed.
Optional Compatibility
- Just Enough Items displays all crafting recipes automatically.
- Forge config-screen mods can expose the server configuration through an in-game interface.
Neither is required.
Installation

- Install Sophisticated Core.
- Install Sophisticated Backpacks.
- Place Null Field Emitters in the
modsfolder. - Install the same mod version on the server and all connecting clients.
