Obesity (Verity addon)

Meet **Obesity**, a happy, food-loving companion joining the Verity family! With his bright yellow body, round belly, little arms, and wide smile, he brings company, snacks, and a little mischief to your Minecraft adventures.

### A new friend in a snack box

A snack box arrives near each player once per world. Open yours to meet Obesity and make him your companion. He follows you, waits when asked, and can be picked up and carried. You can also summon him with a spawn egg, craft his egg, or use `/obesity summon` with operator permission.

### Sharing snacks—and sneaking a bite

Obesity loves eating as much as he loves sharing. After his first three minutes, he alternates between two events every **3–5 minutes**:

- **Picnic time:** nearby players receive two randomly selected food items, such as bread, cookies, cooked beef, apples, carrots, or baked potatoes.
- **Snack thief:** he eats **one eligible food item** from each nearby survival or adventure player's inventory or offhand.

Your **fruit and vegetables stay safe**, including golden apples, golden carrots, berries, and potatoes. If you only have protected produce, he takes nothing. Prepared foods such as bread, pies, and stews can be taken. Modded produce is protected through supported item tags, and custom protection can be added with a data pack.

Events reach players within **16 blocks**. Shared cooldowns prevent multiple Obesity companions from rapidly giving or taking food. Gifts drop nearby if your inventory is full.

### Talk to him with Groq

Give Obesity a voice with optional **Groq text chat, microphone conversations, and spoken replies**. His personality is cheerful, playful, and always excited about Minecraft snacks.

- **O:** open settings and enter your own Groq API key.
- **J:** start a text conversation.
- **Hold N:** record your voice, then release to send.

You can chat while he is nearby or while holding him. Groq sends your selected dialogue and voice recordings to its service; your key stays on your computer. **Food events and companion behavior work without an API key.**

### Bring him along

Sneak-right-click with an empty main hand to carry Obesity, then use his item on a block to put him down. His identity, owner, and event timers travel with him. Holding him keeps his events active. Sneak-right-click with another item to toggle following and waiting.

Obesity never attacks and resists ordinary damage, making him a lasting travel companion.

**Requires Minecraft 1.20.1, Forge 47.4.x, and Java 17.** Install on both client and server for multiplayer. He works independently and can join worlds alongside Verity, Lovity, and Cruelty.
