About

Description

⚠️ OneBlock SMP is in early development. Block drop rates, chest loot, event rewards, and phase balance are still being tuned. New versions may require a world reset — back up your server before updating.

OneBlock SMP drops each player onto a single block floating over the void. Break it, and a new one appears. That's your entire world — build it from nothing.

Phased Progression

Progress through 11 unique phases as you break blocks, each with its own block pools, mob spawns, loot chests, and atmospheric biome shifts:

Plains → Forest → Caves → Desert → Swamp → Taiga → Jungle → Underground → Deep Dark → Nether → End

Every phase is data-driven via JSON — server operators can customize block pools, mob spawns, loot tables, and phase thresholds.

SMP-First Design

  • Per-player islands — each player gets their own one-block, spaced 1000 blocks apart. Everyone progresses independently.
  • Claim protection — a 100-block radius around each island prevents griefing. Visit friends, but only build on your own island.
  • Leaderboards — track who's broken the most blocks and reached the furthest phase via the scoreboard sidebar and tab list.

Competitive Events

Break up the grind with server-wide minigames:

  • Block Hunt — a procedurally generated dungeon filled with hidden target blocks. Use your compass to track them down before anyone else.
  • Mining Challenge — race to find a single hidden gold block inside a massive cobblestone cube. Cube size scales with player count.
  • Scavenger Hunt — explore a vanilla wilderness and race to complete a checklist of tiered items. A 45-minute drop-in/drop-out event where every item found earns points.

Full save/restore of player state (inventory, XP, position, effects) when entering and leaving events.

🖥️ Dedicated Server Setup

OneBlock SMP uses a custom void world. On a dedicated server you must tell it to generate that world — otherwise you'll spawn into a normal map with no one-block, and /oneblock home will say you don't have one.

  1. Install Fabric Loader and drop Fabric API + OneBlock SMP into your mods/ folder.
  2. Stop the server, then edit server.properties: level-type=oneblock:oneblock
  3. Delete (or rename) your existing world folder (the one named by level-name, default world). level-type only applies to a freshly generated world — it will not convert an existing one.
  4. Start the server. You'll spawn on your one-block.

⚠️ Changing level-type without deleting the old world has no effect — this is the single most common setup mistake. Single-player works automatically: just select the "OneBlock" world type on the create-world screen.
