Description

OreFlora – Grow Ores Above Ground (Fabric)

OreFlora is a Fabric mod that transforms ores into renewable plants. No more mining – simply craft ores with vanilla crops to grow your resources above ground. Supports a simple command to toggle seed drops from ore blocks.

🌱 Core Mechanics

Crafting Recipe

Place 8 of the same material in a ring around a central plant (seed, sugarcane, melon seed, sapling, etc.) in a crafting table.

  • For most ores (iron, gold, diamond, emerald, etc.): use the corresponding mineral (e.g., diamond).
  • For copper: use raw copper (8 raw copper + 1 plant).
  • For amethyst: use amethyst blocks.

Example: 8 diamonds + 1 wheat seed = Diamond Wheat.

Reverse crafting: An ore tree sapling can be crafted back into 9 of its corresponding mineral (e.g., diamond sapling → 9 diamonds; copper sapling → 9 raw copper; amethyst sapling → 9 amethyst blocks).

Note: Some saplings drop raw ores that require smelting (iron, gold, copper, ancient debris), while others drop finished materials (coal, diamond, emerald, redstone, lapis, quartz, amethyst blocks).

🌾 Plants & Behaviors

1. Ore Seeds / Ore Wheat

Grows on farmland like wheat. When fully mature and broken, it drops:

  • 1 ore (vanilla ore block, e.g., diamond ore)
  • 2–3 seeds of the same type

2. Ore Sugarcane

Grows near water like vanilla sugarcane. When harvested, you can break it down (crafting table / inventory crafting) to obtain the corresponding mineral (e.g., iron ingot, gold ingot, diamond, emerald, etc.).
Note: This produces minerals, not raw ore blocks.

3. Ore Melon

Grows on farmland like a melon stem. When fully mature, the plant directly yields the corresponding vanilla ore block (e.g., diamond ore).

4. Ore Tree

Planting: An ore tree sapling must be placed on top of the corresponding ore block (e.g., diamond tree sapling on a diamond block).
Exception: Ancient Debris tree sapling can be planted directly on an *ancient debris *.
Copper Special: Copper tree saplings can be planted on any oxidized of copper blocks . Other copper plants (wheat, sugarcane, melon) are planted on farmland as usual.

Growth: When fully grown, the leaves are harvestable ore blocks. The logs can be broken down (crafting) into 4 saplings of the same tree type.

Reverse crafting: As mentioned above, any ore tree sapling can be crafted back into 9 of its corresponding mineral. Special Case Amethyst(amethyst sapling → 9 amethyst blocks).

Tip: Ore trees provide both ores and new saplings, allowing infinite farming.

⚙️ Special Command

/oreflora dropSeeds <true/false>

  • true – When you break an ore block (e.g., diamond ore) in the world, it has a chance to drop the corresponding OreFlora seed/sapling/melon seed.
  • false – No ore blocks will drop OreFlora plants.

You can use this to balance your world or disable passive seed collection.

🎮 Getting Started

Since all OreFlora plants are craftable (8 materials + 1 plant), you don't need to find them in chests. Just mine a few ores, craft your first plant, and then farm forever.
The /oreflora dropSeeds command is optional – enable it if you want ore blocks to occasionally drop plants too.

🔧 Compatibility

  • Loader: Fabric (only)
  • No extra world generation required – everything is crafted.
