Adding a new layer to Origins!

With this mod, you can add a background to your character. Were they a fisher? A sailor? A cultist? It's all up to you. Each background comes with a small positive effect, small enough it won't upset the balance, even without a negative effect.

Backgrounds are their own type, so they won't be competing with your hundreds of Origins or Classes. In fact, you can have an Origin, a Class and a Background, similar to a popular TTRPG.

Gains extra xp from killing chickens

Starts with an enchanted iron hoe

Gain extra nutrition from fish

Guard
Gain Resistance when holding a shield

Haunted

Immune to the Darkness effect

Novice Mage

Gains nutrition and healing from any potion

Pirate

Gain Night Vision on the ocean

Retainer
Starts with an enchanted iron sword

Sailor

Attack twice as fast on the open sea

Scribe

Make books with only paper

Soldier

Deal more damage with swords
