About
Description
This mod adds a new shield called Buckler. Unlike regular shields, it is used not for blocking, but rather for parrying.
Use Buckler right before an enemy's attack connects to deflect it. Parrying a melee attack dazes enemies, slowing them down for 3 seconds (similarly to a high level Bane of Arthropods strike). Parry works like regular blocking against projectiles. This move has a 1 second cooldown.
Buckler can be crafted from 1 block of planks and 4 leather. It has 224 durability (depleted by parrying attacks that would deal 3 or more damage) and can be repaired on anvil using planks. Buckler is hard to use and requires precise timing to pull off a parry. However, it really shines against lone enemies as well as axe users, which can counter regular shields.
If you are a mod maker and want your mobs to use Buckler, you can do so with "buckler_parry_effect" and "buckler_parry_cooldown" entity tags. The mob will parry an attack if the former value is higher than 0 (1 is substracted after each parry). The latter value is set to 60 after each parry (optional, matches the length of Slowness effect in ticks).
The mod is created with the help of MCreator.
