Description

PatientZero

PatientZero turns Minecraft into a full-fledged biological laboratory. Explore creature blood, decipher genetic features, create specialized viruses, and develop ways to protect yourself from your own experiments.

The mod is designed not only to create infections, but also to diagnose, spread, treat, and contain them.

Main gameplay

  1. Take blood from a player or any living vanilla creature.
  2. Divide the sample into a cell culture, a genome, and a viral base.
  3. Decode the genome in a sequencer.
  4. Explore the available genetic features.
  5. Customize the goals and properties of the future virus.
  6. Create a single prototype.
  7. Replicate it in a Petri dish incubator with nutrient agar.
  8. Produce a vaccine, antiviral drugs, and protective equipment.
  9. Monitor the progression of the infection or attempt to stop the epidemic.

Virus Engineering

Viruses are created from researched genes and do not appear out of thin air. Real samples, a viral backbone, organic compounds, reagents, and time are required for development.

Each gene affects the characteristics of the virus:

  • lethality;
  • infectivity;
  • survivability;
  • resistance to heat;
  • bypassing immunity;
  • duration of the incubation period;
  • affected organs;
  • symptoms;
  • methods of transmission.

Enhancing one property requires resources and can weaken another. High lethality, infectivity, and stability are very expensive at the same time.

To create a virus that affects multiple species, it is necessary to study the genomes of all targets and find compatible genetic markers.

Infections

Diseases develop in stages:

  • incubation;
  • early stage;
  • developed stage;
  • severe stage.

The development is influenced by the parameters of the virus, the creature's natural immunity, antibodies, and the treatment provided.

At the same time, the body can carry up to two compatible infections.
Viruses spread:

  • when infected creatures are nearby;
  • by airborne droplets;
  • through contaminated food;
  • through the meat of infected animals.

Thermally unstable viruses die when food is cooked.

Symptoms

Infections can cause:

  • weakness;
  • slowdown;
  • hunger;
  • nausea;
  • coughing;
  • sneezing;
  • periodic health damage.

Coughing and sneezing are accompanied by sounds and can contribute to the spread of infection.

Without a blood test, the player does not see the exact diagnosis, virus parameters, or stage of the disease.

Immunity and Treatment

Each creature receives individual natural immunity. It can slow down the disease or completely suppress a mild infection, but it does not make the body completely invulnerable.

Temporary antibodies may appear after exposure to the virus. They gradually weaken, so vaccination is required for reliable protection.

The following are available:

  • vaccines based on viral samples;
  • antiviral drugs;
  • temporary antibodies;
  • laboratory masks;
  • full protective suits;
  • disinfection frames.

Laboratory equipment

The mod adds several specialized devices:

  • blood extractor;
  • genome sequencer;
  • virus constructor;
  • Petri dish incubator;
  • medical analyzer;
  • status scanner;
  • disinfection frame.

Each device stores its own research and data. Knowledge is tied to the equipment, not to the player or the entire world.

Status Scanner

Place a player or mob directly on the scanner platform to get detailed information:

  • creature type and UUID;
  • health, armor, air, and active effects;
  • natural immunity;
  • equipment;
  • active infections;
  • stages and progress of diseases;
  • time to symptoms;
  • contagiousness;
  • treatment;
  • antibodies;
  • virus parameters and genes.

Encyclopedia

The built-in laboratory encyclopedia explains:

  • the purpose of each gene;
  • changing the parameters of the virus;
  • the cost of genetic modules;
  • the operation of equipment;
  • the methods of propagation;
  • symptoms;
  • treatment and prevention.

CC:Tweaked

Integration with CC:Tweaked is optional.

Computers can:

  • receive scanner data;
  • monitor the status of mobs and players;
  • read the full list of infections and antibodies;
  • manage laboratory projects;
  • select targets and genes;
  • start synthesis;
  • display diagnostics on large monitors.

For an advanced graphical interface, you can additionally use CC: Graphics and the PatientZero holographic Lua script.

Without computer mods, the entire main gameplay remains accessible through regular interfaces.

Configuration

PatientZero creates a configuration with all the vanilla creatures in Minecraft 1.21.1.

You can customize:

  • blood sample types;
  • natural immunity;
  • genetic markers;
  • available genes;
  • equipment runtime;
  • infection radius and frequency;
  • infection transmission probability;
  • constructor capacity;
  • general disease parameters.

Compatibility

  • Minecraft 1.21.1
  • NeoForge loader
  • Java 21
  • CC:Tweaked - optional integration
  • CC: Graphics - optional graphics integration

PatientZero is designed exclusively for game simulation of fictional infections and laboratory systems within Minecraft.
