Piglins like Netherite

Finally, endgame armor that Piglins respect too.

A small but handy addition that treats your Netherite armor exactly like Piglins already treat gold.

Description

Tired of swapping your endgame gear for weak gold armor just to walk through the Nether in peace? Vanilla only lets gold keep Piglins calm. This adds Netherite to that same list.

Available in three flavours, all doing exactly the same thing: a mod for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt, a server plugin for the whole Bukkit family, and a plain datapack for everything else. Pick whichever fits your setup.

Added Effect

Condition Result
Wearing 1x Netherite Armor piece Nearby Piglins stay neutral, just like with Gold Armor

Equip any single piece of Netherite armor (helmet, chestplate, leggings, or boots) and Piglins around you stop targeting you, exactly the way Gold armor already works. Nothing about Gold armor changes, and no other Piglin behaviour is touched.

Server Plugin

The plugin build doesn't rely on the vanilla tag at all — it listens for Piglins choosing a target and cancels it itself if that target is wearing Netherite. That means it's the one version of the three that works across the entire supported version range, not just from 1.21.4 onward (see Compatibility below).

Every message the plugin sends can be rewritten in the messages section of config.yml, colour codes included.

Compatibility

On Minecraft versions older than 1.21.4, the datapack shows as incompatible in the Data Packs menu instead of silently doing nothing, and the mod loads normally on its loader but has no visible effect yet. The plugin is unaffected by this, since it doesn't depend on the vanilla tag at all.

A note on the Plugin build

The plugin ships as a real compiled Bukkit/Spigot/Paper jar rather than a data-only file. It has no Sponge build and no bStats metrics in this release — nothing is sent anywhere. folia-supported: true is set and the logic runs as a plain synchronous event cancellation with no cross-region scheduling, so it's expected to behave correctly on Folia.
