🌱 Plant Anywhere!

Ever tried placing grass on a stone block? Or wheat on top of a bookshelf? Now you can! This datapack expands the blocks that plants can be placed on to include (almost) every block in the game.

It's a simple tag-only datapack, so no functions, no entities, no performance impact. Just more planting freedom!

🌿 What's changed?

🌻 Full block support (place on any block!)

These plants can now be placed on all mineable blocks, wool, shulker boxes and more:

  • 🌷 All flowers & vegetation (roses, dandelions, grass, ferns, etc.)
  • 🌲 All saplings & azalea
  • 🌾 All crops (wheat, carrots, potatoes, beetroot, melon/pumpkin stems)
  • 🍄 All mushrooms & fungus (including crimson & warped)
  • 🌿 Nether plants (nether sprouts, warped/crimson roots, wither rose)
  • 🎋 Bamboo
  • 🏜️ Dry vegetation (dead bush + dry grass on all blocks)
  • 🌱 Dripleaf (both small and big)
  • 🌸 Mangrove propagule (including hanging!)
  • 🎵 Chorus plant
🌵 Restricted changes (kept realistic)

Some plants have smaller, sensible additions instead of full freedom:

🌵 Cactus Added dirt-like blocks (was sand only)
🟤 Nether Wart Added soul soil (was soul sand only)
🫘 Cocoa Beans All log types (was jungle logs only)
🚫 Unchanged (left vanilla)

These plants have placement rules that would break if changed:

Plant Reason
🌸 Chorus Flower Should only grow on end stone
🍬 Sugar Cane Needs water nearby to survive
🪷 Lily Pad Only makes sense on water

📋 Good to know

  • Works with 26.1, 26.1.2, 26.2, and 26.3
  • The supports_* block tags were introduced in 26.1, so older versions are not supported
  • Some plants may still have hardcoded checks beyond the tags - the tag just controls which blocks they can be placed on
  • Check the advancements tab for the datapack under Gurkis Datapacks!
