Description

ProjectEF Neo

Classic Equivalent Exchange, rebuilt for Fabric.

Minecraft 1.21.1 Fabric Java 21

Turn surplus resources into the items you need. Learn items, store EMC, and build an alchemical workshop that grows from a Philosopher's Stone to automated matter production.

ProjectEF Neo is a community Fabric port of ProjectE, inspired by the classic Equivalent Exchange 2 experience. The “F” stands for Fabric.

中文名:等价交换:Neo · Simplified Chinese and English localization.

For Minecraft 1.21.1 on Fabric. This is a standalone port, not a ProjectE add-on. It does not run on Forge or NeoForge.

Features

Learn, exchange, and recreate

  • Convert items with an EMC value into EMC (Energy-Matter Covalence).
  • Learn item types and recreate them using your stored EMC.
  • Access your transmutation knowledge through the Transmutation Table or portable Transmutation Tablet.
  • Customize item values with the in-game EMC Manager, configuration files, or commands.

Build your EMC workshop

  • Energy Collectors (MK1–MK3) and Anti-Matter Relays (MK1–MK3) for EMC generation and transfer.
  • Energy Condensers (MK1/MK2) to turn stored EMC into your chosen item.
  • Dark Matter Pedestals for automated item effects.
  • Dark Matter and Red Matter Furnaces for your alchemical base.

Rediscover classic equipment

  • Philosopher's Stone — transmute blocks and begin your alchemical progression.
  • Dark Matter and Red Matter tools — including configurable area mining.
  • GEM Armor — flight, night vision, step assist, and combat utility.
  • Alchemical Bags, Gems of Eternal Density, Swiftwolf's Rending Gale, and other familiar rings, amulets, and tools.

In-game EMC Manager

Adjust item EMC without typing commands. Open the manager with F8, or use the EMC Manager button in the pause menu. The key can be changed in Controls.

  1. Find an item by name or registry ID, or select the base type of the item in your main hand.
  2. Save a new value, Remove its EMC, or Reset its custom override.
  3. Click Apply to recalculate and synchronize all saved changes across the server — no /reload needed.

Remove and Reset are different: Remove saves a value of 0 to disable the base item's EMC. Reset deletes its override and lets the remaining configuration and recipes determine its value.

The manager edits base item values, not player EMC balances, tags, or component-specific variants such as enchanted items. Existing configuration and command workflows remain available.

For administrators and modpack makers: Editing uses the existing ProjectE EMC permissions — OP level 2 by default. Applying requires set, remove, and reset permissions because it applies all saved changes server-wide. Changes are stored in the server's config/ProjectE/custom_emc.json. Recalculating a large modpack may briefly pause the server.

Installation

Required

Component Requirement
Minecraft 1.21.1
Fabric Loader 0.16.9 or newer
Fabric API A release compatible with Minecraft 1.21.1
Java 21
  1. Set up a Minecraft 1.21.1 Fabric instance.
  2. Add Fabric API and the matching ProjectEF Neo JAR to that instance's mods folder.
  3. Launch the game. For multiplayer, install the mod and Fabric API on both the server and the clients.

Forge Config API Port and fabric-permissions-api are bundled inside ProjectEF Neo; you do not need to download those two libraries separately. Fabric API is still required.

Do not install ProjectEF Neo alongside another version or port of ProjectE that uses the same projecte mod ID.

Optional integrations

These mods enhance the experience but are not required. Use versions compatible with Fabric and Minecraft 1.21.1.

Integration What it adds
JEI / EMI / REI Recipe-viewer support; choose your preferred viewer.
Jade / WTHIT Block information and EMC displays.
Trinkets Accessory slots for supported rings, amulets, charms, and Klein Stars.

With Trinkets, supported accessories can use the hand/ring and chest/necklace slots. Without it, these items remain usable through their normal inventory behavior.

Compatibility notes

  • Avaritia EMC is opt-in. Built-in EMC values for classic Avaritia items are disabled by default. They can be enabled in config/ProjectE/mapping.toml. This does not disable your custom values or values derived from recipes.
  • Familiar configuration. The projecte mod ID, config/ProjectE directory, and existing configuration format are retained for compatibility.
  • Back up before migrating. Existing configurations, resource packs, datapacks, and world data may be reusable, but compatibility depends on their contents and other installed mods. Moving between loaders is not guaranteed to be a drop-in replacement.
  • Not currently included: CraftTweaker, The One Probe, and Curios integration. Accessory support uses Trinkets instead of Curios.
