Protogen Origin

Half animal, half machine. A fully-featured Protogen origin for the Origins mod — built as a pure datapack-mod (no Java code, no extra dependencies beyond Origins/Apoli).

Step into the chassis of a sleek cyber-creature: your visor cuts through the dark, your servo-driven legs make you fast, your sealed casing keeps you operating underwater — but your synthetic body refuses ordinary food, and a single lightning bolt can fry you twice as hard as a normal mob would.

Features

Strengths

• Visor Display — Built-in night vision in low light and full immunity to blindness.
• Mechanical Armor — +4 permanent armor from your metal plating.
• Cyber Speed — Servo motors give you +10% movement speed.
• Reinforced Legs — Shock absorbers cut fall damage in half.
• Waterproof Chassis — You don't drown and stay fully operational underwater.
• Aqua Affinity — Mine just as fast underwater as on land.
• Scanner Mode (active, default G) — Highlight every living entity within 16 blocks for 8 seconds. The outlines are client-side only — other players don't see them. 30 second cooldown with a HUD bar that fills back up.

Weaknesses

• Electric Weakness — Lightning and electric damage hit you twice as hard.
• No Biological Regeneration — Your body never heals on its own. Use potions, golden apples or other instant-heal sources.
• Synthetic Diet — Your digestive system rejects organic food. Meat, bread, fruit and the like simply cannot be eaten.
• Power Demand — If your hunger drops too low your systems overheat and you take continuous damage.

Energy Intake (active, default V)

Hold one of the following items in your main hand and press the secondary key to consume it as fuel:

This is the only way a Protogen can refill its hunger bar.

Requirements

• Minecraft 1.20.1
• Forge 47.x or newer
• Origins

No client/server-side restrictions — install on both sides for multiplayer.

Installation

1. Install Forge for Minecraft 1.20.1.
2. Install Origins (and its dependencies) into your mods/ folder.
3. Drop Protogen Origin into the same mods/ folder.
4. Launch the game — the Protogen origin appears automatically in the origin selection screen of every world.

Compatibility

Protogen Origin is purely additive: it does not modify any vanilla or other-mod content. It should be compatible with virtually every other Origins origin and any other mod that follows the standard Origins/Apoli registration patterns.
