Description

Puffish Skills: Ascension Tree

A complete RPG-style overhaul of the Combat category for Puffish Skills (Fabric 1.20.1).

This is not a small balance patch or a few extra upgrades. Ascension Tree transforms the original combat progression into a massive passive skill tree inspired by Path of Exile, Diablo IV, Grim Dawn, and classic action RPGs.

What makes it different?

The journey begins with a challenge.

When you unlock the combat tree, your maximum health is reduced by half, forcing you to survive and rebuild your strength through progression. Every heart, every point of armor, every movement bonus is earned through specialization and long-term investment.

740 Passive Skill Nodes

The tree contains 740 individual upgrade nodes, making it one of the largest custom combat progressions ever built for Puffish Skills.

You are not expected to unlock everything.

Instead, you create a build.

Seven Combat Archetypes

The tree is divided into major regions, each representing a different combat philosophy.

Archer

High mobility, rapid attacks, and devastating ranged damage.

Crossbowman

Heavy ranged damage combined with durability and defensive scaling.

Tank

Massive health, armor, resistance, and survivability.

Swordsman

Balanced offense, defense, and sustained combat efficiency.

Berserker

Extreme melee damage and aggression at the cost of health and defense.

Assassin

Speed, critical damage, attack tempo, and lethal burst potential.

Universal

A flexible path with moderate bonuses across multiple combat disciplines.

Real Build Decisions

Most RPG skill trees simply grant bonuses.

Ascension Tree forces meaningful choices.

Many branches are mutually exclusive, permanently locking alternative paths once you commit to a specialization.

Choosing heavy armor may block significant portions of the Berserker tree.

Investing into ranged mastery can prevent access to powerful melee damage routes.

Every decision shapes your character.

Risk vs Reward Progression

The tree contains both powerful buffs and dangerous sacrifices.

Trade maximum health for overwhelming damage.

Abandon survivability for attack speed.

Give up armor in exchange for critical scaling.

Power is rarely free.

Endgame Outer Ring

Completing a class is only the beginning.

After mastering a specialization, the path expands into a massive outer ring filled with hundreds of additional progression nodes.

The outer ring contains:

  • Randomly distributed single-level upgrades

  • Rare high-value branches

  • Powerful level 5 reward clusters

  • Long exploration routes for min-max players

  • Hybrid opportunities between different combat philosophies

This creates a true endgame progression layer, allowing continued character growth long after a build is completed.

Designed for Replayability

Because of the extensive branching, mutual exclusions, and trade-offs, no two characters need to develop the same way.

Tank players can become immortal fortresses.

Assassins can sacrifice nearly everything for speed.

Berserkers can embrace glass-cannon gameplay.

Archers can evolve into high-mobility snipers.

The tree rewards experimentation and multiple playthroughs.

Requirements

  • Minecraft 1.20.1

  • Fabric Loader

  • Puffish Skills (required dependency)

Ascension Tree was built as a passion project to bring a true action-RPG progression system into Minecraft.

Survive the weakened beginning, forge your build, and ascend.

Feedback & Balancing

This project has only received limited balance testing so far. Some builds, routes, or class combinations may be stronger or weaker than intended. I'd genuinely appreciate any feedback, balance suggestions, bug reports, or gameplay impressions that can help improve the tree over time.
