Description
Pumps & Pistons: Automobility
Connect the Pumps & Pistons fuel economy to Automobility vehicles with persistent tanks, deliberate refuelling, configurable survival consumption and a compact dashboard.
Oil extraction, refining, cans, service pumps and station building are provided by the required core. This integration handles the vehicles.
Illustrated field manual
The shared manual has eight illustrated sheets in 18 languages. Its vehicle chapters explain how to refuel, choose an engine, rebuild a car and understand fuel consumption.

| Chapter | What you will learn |
|---|---|
| Refuel and drain | Hold to refuel; click with an empty can to drain; connect a nozzle once |
| Engines and rebuilding | Petrol versus diesel, tank capacities and changing an engine safely |
| Consumption and dashboard | Fuel use and the driving gauge |

Vehicle fuel
- Petrol for stone, copper and gold engines; diesel for iron and diamond engines.
- Engine-specific tank capacities; newly built vehicles start empty by default.
- Persistent fuel type, amount and consumption remainder.
- Server-controlled consumption that accounts for distance, running time, speed, frame weight, passengers and acceleration.
- Wrong fuel is rejected. Creative engines use no fuel.
New installations use the survival preset at 50× the realistic consumption rate, making fuel stops part of ordinary journeys. Engine, frame, passengers and driving style still affect range. Existing server settings are preserved; operators can opt in with consumptionPreset: "survival" and survivalConsumptionMultiplier: 50.0 in config/pumps_and_pistons_automobility.json, then restart the server or game.
Changing an engine means rebuilding the vehicle. Drain its tank with empty cans, dismantle it with a crowbar, and use the returned parts in the automobile assembler with your chosen engine. Holding another engine does not replace the engine of an assembled car.
If fuel remains, the first crowbar use warns and preserves the vehicle. Release the use button, then use the crowbar again to deliberately dismantle it and discard its fuel. Holding the button cannot confirm. Switching the vehicle or crowbar, changing the fuel, opening a screen or losing focus cancels the pending confirmation. The rebuilt vehicle starts empty by default.
An empty or incorrectly fuelled vehicle explains the problem to each new driver, without repeating the message every tick.
Refuelling
- Can to car: hold right mouse with a compatible filled can. Release to pause; after the can empties or the tank fills, release before starting another action.
- Pump to car: use an empty hand to take a pump's nozzle, then click the exact stationary vehicle once. Transfer continues automatically. Right-click the pump again to stop it and return the nozzle.
- Car to can: use an empty can to withdraw up to 20 L.
- Multiplayer reservations, reach checks, fuel compatibility and tank limits keep transfers tied to the intended player and vehicle.
Delivered fuel stays in the destination; unused fuel stays in the source. The transfer HUD shows the destination, amounts and the reason a transfer ends.
Dashboard
A compact ten-segment fuel gauge sits beside the driving instruments in its automatic layout. It coordinates with Momentum when installed and works on its own without it. Amber and red segments mark low and critical fuel.
Requirements
Install the same core and integration release for the same Minecraft version on the server and all participating clients. Java 25 is required.
| Minecraft Java | Fabric Loader | Fabric API |
|---|---|---|
| 26.1.2 | 0.19.2 or newer | 0.152.1+26.1.2 or a compatible newer build |
| 26.2 | 0.19.3 or newer | 0.153.0+26.2 or a compatible newer build |
- Pumps & Pistons, with the exact matching release and Minecraft target.
- Automobility: Unofficial Port 0.5.0-unofficial.36, for the same Minecraft version, for the 1.10.3 releases.
- Momentum is optional.
When upgrading from 1.8, remove all old monolithic or split 1.8 JARs first. Do not mix those builds with the current pumps_and_pistons generation.
