About

Description

Questown is a new mod that intends to add a quest-based component to village building.

Status

This mod is in the early beta stage. It is technically playable, but may require some patience and could be prone to bugs.

Current Functionality

Town

  • A town flag base block will spawn in the world randomly or can be placed in the world in creative mode
  • Quests can be viewed by right clicking on the flag base block
    • Currently, all quests come in the form of "build me a specific type of room"
    • All town rooms must be constructed with a "town door" (right click on flag base with door in hand)
    • Quests become more difficult as the town grows
    • Some quests will result in the owner starting a special job (See "Villagers" below)
    • After completing a batch of active quests, a new "visitor" will arrive in the morning and add new quests
      • Repeat

Villagers

  • By default, all villagers start out as "gatherers"
    • Gatherers will disappear through a "town gate" structure in the morning and return in the evening with simple world items
      • They can be given axes, pickaxes, shovels, and fishing rods to modify the loot they find
    • After completing quests, villagers may take on different jobs:
      • Baker: Uses a "bread oven" block (added by this mod) to bake bread slowly throughout the day, but using fewer materials than a player needs.
      • Farmer: Works in a "farm" room.
        • Plants seeds, uses bone meal from town chests on crops, harvest crops, and uses composters.
        • Farmers yield more resources from crops and the composter than a player can.
      • Blacksmith: Crafts wooden pickaxes out of planks and sticks (using fewer resource than a player would)
      • Smelter: Extracts 2 raw iron from one iron ore
      • Crafter: Crafts bowl, sticks, paper, or planks from wood or sugar cane
