Real Knife (Undertale)

Bring an Undertale-inspired arsenal into your Minecraft world and follow a path from a simple Toy Knife to the overwhelmingly powerful Real Knife.

Real Knife is more than a sword retexture. The mod introduces LOVE and EXP progression, evolving weapons, custom 3D models, phantom knife abilities, automatic projectile interception, original visual effects, immersive audio, advancements, and compatibility with popular combat mods.

Your actions now have consequences.

❤️ LOVE PROGRESSION

Every player begins at LOVE 1. Defeating living entities grants EXP based on their maximum health. Stronger enemies provide more progress, and earning enough EXP increases your LOVE.

The system includes:

• Progression from LOVE 1 to LOVE 20.
• EXP rewards based on enemy health with a balanced progression curve.
• Preservation of excess EXP after leveling up (including multiple level increases from powerful enemies).
• Persistent LOVE and EXP after death or disconnection.
• Full client-server synchronization.
• A custom Undertale-inspired HUD that displays your current LOVE level and progress directly beside the hotbar.

🗡️ WEAPON PROGRESSION

• 🔪 Toy Knife: A fast and lightweight starting weapon. Features fast attack speed but limited durability. It cannot break blocks, is craftable during normal gameplay, and can awaken at LOVE 20.
• 🗡️ Worn Dagger: A stronger weapon for players further along the progression path. Has higher damage and greater durability. Cannot break blocks, is craftable, and awakens at LOVE 20.
• 🔪 Real Knife: The final weapon. Reaching LOVE 20 while carrying a Toy Knife or Worn Dagger awakens the weapon into the Real Knife.

The Awakening Event Features: Smoke and flame particles, a dramatic sound effect, a special message, the hidden “The Awakening” advancement, and protection against accidental duplication.

How to obtain via commands: The Real Knife can also be accessed from the Creative Combat tab or by using:

/give @p undertale_real_knife:real_knife

Note: Obtaining it through commands does not grant the awakening advancement.

✨ REAL KNIFE FEATURES

• 💥 Absolute Power: Deals an absurd 999999 damage. Direct hits use proper player damage attribution, allowing eliminations to interact correctly with drops, combat events, advancements, and LOVE progression.
• 🗡️ Custom 3D Model: Features a detailed custom 3D model designed to preserve the recognizable pixel-art appearance while fitting naturally into Minecraft. (Toy Knife and Worn Dagger also include custom textures/models).
• 🩸 Custom Attack Effects: Real Knife attacks include a custom red sweep effect, a red damage indicator, bright custom particles, impact sounds, and a dramatic full-screen effect when another player is struck.
• 🎵 Immersive Audio: Features custom sounds for knife impacts, phantom knife flight, warning markers, LOVE level increases, weapon awakening, and Genocide-style visual effects.
• 🛡️ Supreme Auto-Parry: Automatically protects its owner from incoming projectiles. Enemy projectiles entering the defensive range are intercepted by phantom knives. Works automatically while in your inventory without needing to be actively swung.
• ⚔️ Phantom Knife Fan Attack: Hold right-click with the Real Knife to mark nearby hostile creatures. Releasing the button summons up to 14 phantom knives in a dramatic V-shaped formation that home in on marked targets, dealing massive area damage. (“Nobody came. =)” if no valid enemy is found).
• 💀 Soulbound Real Knife: Preserved and restored after respawning. Keeps custom names, NBT data, unbreakable status, and other modifications. Safely drops near the player if the inventory is full.

🏆 ADVANCEMENTS

Real Knife includes a custom advancement tree inspired by Undertale. Advancements reward actions such as obtaining the Real Knife, defeating specific creatures, eliminating powerful bosses, reaching progression milestones, and awakening a weapon at LOVE 20. (Some advancements are hidden until fulfilled!)

🤝 SEAMLESS COMPATIBILITY

Real Knife is designed to integrate seamlessly with the Fabric ecosystem:

• 🥊 Punchy!: Native JSON compatibility included. Equip the weapons to use smooth and dynamic first-person animations. (When using Punchy! together with Better Combat, enable the corresponding Better Combat compatibility setting in the Punchy! config).
• ⚔️ Better Combat: Data-driven weapon attributes are included. The knives use dagger-style attributes for fast attacks and combat combinations.
• 🍅 Farmer's Delight: Uses the universal Fabric knife tag (c:tools/knives). Yes, the ultimate weapon of mass destruction can still be used for food preparation!

🧪 DEBUG COMMAND

Server operators can set their LOVE level for testing:

/setlove <1-20>

*Example: /setlove 20* Using this command resets the current EXP progress for the selected level and updates the HUD immediately.

⚙️ TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS

📦 INSTALLATION

1. Install Fabric Loader for Minecraft 1.20.1.
2. Install the correct version of Fabric API.
3. Download the latest Real Knife JAR.
4. Place the JAR inside the Minecraft mods folder.
5. Launch the Fabric profile. (For multiplayer, install the mod and Fabric API on both the server and every connecting client).

Real Knife currently includes localization for:

• English
• Spanish (Spain, Latin America, Mexico, Argentina) (Additional translations may be added in future updates).
