Description

RemoveAmbientFOV: A client-side Fabric mod that disables ambient Field of View changes

RemoveAmbientFOV is a client-side Fabric mod that removes "ambient" Field of View (FOV) changes caused by movement-related effects such as Beacon Speed and Soul Speed, while leaving other movement modifiers (sprinting, potions) untouched.

Minecraft adjusts your FOV based on certain effects to convey motion. While immersive, this can be very disorientating for people that already play on high FOV (like me), This mod gives you control over that behavior without touching gameplay mechanics.

This mod depends on the library mod Roselib!

Configuration

The mod integrates directly into Minecraft’s Accessibility Options menu, exposing two toggles:

  • Beacon FOV changes
  • Soul Speed FOV changes

Each option can be enabled or disabled independently and is saved to a simple JSON config file:

.minecraft/config/removeambientfov.json

Compatibility & Additional Notes

This mod should be compatible with most mods that don’t aggressively override FOV logic.

RemoveAmbientFOV is inspired by mods such as Custom FOV, but it is not intended to compete or replace them. Instead, it focuses specifically on ambient FOV changes (e.g. Beacon Speed and Soul Speed), rather than providing broad or global FOV customization.

Functionality may overlap with mods like Soul Speed FOV Fix. RemoveAmbientFOV is an independent, open-source implementation that exists to suit a narrower use case while being very lightweight to the client.

These mods are not explicitly marked as incompatible in my fabric.mod.json, maybe out of miracle they DO work with each other. But until someone reports otherwise, they will remain marked as "compatible"
