About
Description
This is not an official port. It could have been released six months ago, but back then it was still quite rough around the edges. I didn't want to release a mod that differed too much from what everyone expected and risk disappointing people. Porting the mechanics was genuinely difficult and time-consuming. Of course, there are still plenty of bugs and inconsistencies, but I hope they won't get in the way of your enjoyment. I also haven't tested how the mod performs in multiplayer.
In the future, I plan to release approximately two more addons for this port, both related to death mechanics in one way or another. However, this version of the mod will remain as close to the original as possible, and its core mechanics will not be changed.
Special thanks to the original mod author, both for the idea itself and for making the entire source code available on GitHub. Without that, I probably wouldn't have been able to port the mod, and I might never have even started this project.
Of course, a port should stay true to the original, but I decided to improve certain aspects according to my own judgment. Some of these changes might make the experience worse for some players, but I don't believe a port has to replicate absolutely every aspect of the original 100%. Overall, the mechanics remain consistent with the original, but there are a few differences. Here are the ones I can remember and have documented:
Added a new vision and fog mechanic when passing through walls.
Changed Enderman teleportation. I felt it would be better to teleport directly to the block you're looking at rather than simply to a nearby location.
Modified the mechanics for passing through leaves.
Expanded the range of possible locations for building obelisks.
Slightly reduced the rendering of black campfire particles while possessing a Blaze, as they can obstruct your vision and cause other issues.
Commands such as
/kill,/effect, and/givework. However, modded or plugin commands targeting a player may not work while that player is possessing another entity.Riding mechanics are not fully implemented yet. The following combinations are currently missing:
- Illager riding a Ravager;
- Baby Zombie riding a Chicken;
- Piglin riding a Strider.
Spider riding mechanics have also been changed. You can control the spider, but it may occasionally take control away from you.
This list may change over time, but I will always keep it updated here on the main project page.
Apart from these differences, the mod is largely consistent with the original. I don't have enough time to test absolutely every mechanic under every possible circumstance, but for the most part, everything works as expected.
Additional Abilities
Some new abilities have also been added:
| Entity | Additional Behavior in This Port |
|---|---|
| Bee and Cave Spider | Poison and additional damage |
| Iron Golem | Powerful knockback attack |
| Polar Bear | Knockback attack |
| Hoglin | Charging attack |
| Ravager | Powerful charge that deals increased damage |
| Alex's Mobs | Special attacks and movement profiles for supported creatures |
Known Incompatibilities:
— Canary is an optimization mod that modifies the Entity code responsible for entity movement and collisions. As a result, Requiemunofficial cannot inject its changes into the same section of code, causing the game to crash on startup.
Original Mod: requiem by organization Ladysnake.
