Description

Role Selection is a Minecraft Forge 1.20.1 mod that lets new players receive or choose a configurable starting role on their first login.

Players can either receive one default role automatically or choose from multiple configured roles in a first-login selection UI.

## Features

- One-time role grant per player using persistent player data
- Optional first-login role selection screen
- Per-role JSON5 config files for easy editing
- Shared JSON5 settings file for global behavior
- Configurable inventory items
- Fixed hotbar or inventory slots
- Armor and offhand items
- Potion/status effects
- Optional item NBT for custom items like configured potions
- Optional inventory clearing before the role is applied
- Optional armor replacement behavior

## Included Example Roles

The default generated configs include:

- `basic`
- `tank`
- `healer`
- `farmer`
- `scout`

Each included role starts with basic survival coverage: tools, food, armor, building materials, a sapling, and seeds.

## Config Files

The mod creates these files on first run:

- `config/roleselection.json5`
- `config/roleselection/roles/basic.json5`
- `config/roleselection/roles/tank.json5`
- `config/roleselection/roles/healer.json5`
- `config/roleselection/roles/farmer.json5`
- `config/roleselection/roles/scout.json5`

- Minecraft: `1.20.1`
- Forge: `47.4.10+`
- Java: `17`

For multiplayer, install the mod on the server and on clients that need to use the role selection UI.
