About

Description

Room Climate is a microclimate mod for Minecraft Forge 1.20.1 focused on survival, immersion, and modpack compatibility.

It simulates the thermal behavior of enclosed and semi-enclosed environments, allowing each room to develop its own climate based on sealing, materials, heat sources, cold sources, and exchange with the outside environment.

The mod was designed to work especially well with Desolate Planet and integrates with Cold Sweat, adding a more realistic survival layer without requiring client installation when used on a dedicated server.

Main features:

  • Enclosed rooms naturally heat up or cool down over time
  • Heat and cold leak through real openings to the outside
  • Slabs, stairs, and partial shapes count as physical barriers when they actually seal the environment
  • External temperature is based on biome, time of day, rain, altitude, underground depth, and dimension
  • Wall thermal mass: heavy materials store heat for longer periods
  • Material insulation: wood, wool, and insulating blocks retain temperature better than glass and metal
  • Solar gain through windows and translucent surfaces
  • Hot air rises and cold air sinks, creating thermal stratification
  • Heat sources only function properly when they are active
  • Local thermal radiation based on line of sight
  • Environmental humidity influences perceived temperature
  • Wet players feel colder
  • Clothing and armor reduce part of the thermal impact
  • Smoke and poor ventilation can cause negative effects in enclosed spaces with combustion
  • Rooms connected by open passages behave as a single thermal volume
  • Hot environments can melt ice and snow; cold environments can freeze still water
  • Integration with Cold Sweat to apply world temperature naturally
  • Designed with modpack compatibility in mind, with special focus on Desolate Planet

This mod is ideal for bases, shelters, space stations, underground structures, and any modpack where environmental control should matter as much as food, water, and energy.
