Description
Ruins of Logres
Far across the sea lie the forgotten isles of Logres: towering highlands, windswept meadows and deep gorges, crowned by the ruins of a fallen kingdom. Ruins of Logres adds these islands to your world and the old gateways that lead to them.
Features
- The isle of Logres: one large island per world, out in the ocean roughly 9,000 to 10,000 blocks from spawn, with its own highland range, a high meadow plateau, rolling plains and a rugged coastline.
- Gorges and lakes: deep gorges cut through the hills with rivers running along their floors, and quiet highland lakes. Small clay pools with dripleaf dot the plains.
- Springs and streams: streams rise at mossy springs in the hills and wind down to the sea, joining up, pooling into ponds and spilling over waterfalls, with clay, moss, ferns, azalea and lily pads along the way. (If Streams Reflowing is installed, it handles the island's streams instead.)
- Plains in bloom: the island plains are thick with grass and wildflowers.
- Highland Gateways (with Immersive Gateways): ancient stone portals stand in the overworld. Step through one to cross the water to the island, and a return gateway is built on its shore for you.
- Ruins: the bones of a lost kingdom: Camelot's ruined castle, villages and old roads - are left for you to explore.
Requirements
Optional, but they fit right in
- Immersive Gateways: adds the Highland Gateways, ancient portals that carry you to the island. Without it you reach Logres by boat.
- Streams Reflowing: if installed, it waters the island with its own streams. Without it, the island grows streams, springs, ponds and waterfalls of its own.
- Dynamic Trees
Use it in a new world, since the island only appears in newly generated terrain.
The story
Ruins of Logres is the terrain gen. For the lore, add the companion mod Chronicles of Logres.
Server use
Install on both the server and every client.
Known issues
- The first trip through a Highland Gateway can be slow (only with Immersive Gateways). The island lies thousands of blocks out to sea, so its shore has to be generated the first time anyone travels there. Since 1.4.0 the landing spots are prepared in the background when the server starts, which takes care of this in most cases. If a trip still times out, your character can stay "online" for a minute until the server catches up.
- Workarounds:
- Pre-generate the island before travelling. As an operator, run
/ancientpeaks islandto get the nearest island's coordinates, then use Chunky:chunky center <x> <z>,chunky radius 1500,chunky start. - On servers, set
max-tick-time=-1in server.properties so a long first trip lags instead of the watchdog shutting the server down. - If you get stuck as a "ghost" player after a timeout, wait a few minutes, or have an operator
kickyour name, then rejoin.
- Pre-generate the island before travelling. As an operator, run
- A new world can take a long time to start (5-15 minutes with large modpacks). Streams Reflowing works out the river network around spawn the first time. Later restarts are fast.
