About

Description

This mod adds a rare event: every so often, a Running Skeleton dashes across your screen while you play.

By default, there's a 1 in 5000 chance for the event to trigger per game tick, and since Minecraft runs at 20 ticks per second, that check actually happens 20 times a second. So if you're aiming for a specific "once every X seconds on average", multiply your target number by 20 when setting the chance.

Before you download, a few things to know:

  • Fabric users: the chance is set with a command instead of a config file - run /setskeletonchance <number> (e.g. /setskeletonchance 5000). Keep in mind this command sets the chance for everyone in the world, so you'll need OP or cheats enabled to use it.
  • For multiplayer, the mod needs to be installed on both the client and the server - it won't work if only one side has it.
  • The skeleton's sound effect on new versions follows your Ambient/Environment volume slider in the game settings. (On 1.21.1 it's the config file. for both sound and chance.)
  • This was built in MCreator and hooks into the player tick event, so it's checking every single tick. That means there's a small performance cost - probably not noticeable on most setups, but it could add up on weaker hardware or in heavily modded instances.

To be clear: this mod doesn't change gameplay in any way. It's just a fun, random visual surprise.
