About
Description
Brazilian cooking for Minecraft. About 90 dishes: most from Minas Gerais, and many more from Bahia, the Amazon, the Northeast, Rio and São Paulo, the South and the Center-West. Nothing is made in a crafting grid. You cook it on a wood-fired stove, in clay pots and iron skillets, in a mud oven and in a wooden pilão.
The kitchen
- Fogão a Lenha (wood stove): feed it logs, planks or charcoal and light it with flint and steel. Set a pot or skillet on top. It cooks faster than an open fire.
- Panela de Barro (clay pot): stews, beans, sweets, coffee and chimarrão. It works on the stove, a lit campfire, fire or lava.
- Frigideira (iron skillet): torresmo, tapioca, acarajé, coxinha, pastel, popcorn…
- Forno de Barro (mud oven): it has its own fire. Pão de queijo, biscoito de polvilho, broa, cakes, pudim, quindim…
- Pilão (wooden mortar): no fire, just right-click with an empty hand. Makes cornmeal, cassava flour, starch, ground coffee, grated coconut and paçoca.
Right-click with each ingredient, one at a time, in any order. Look at a station to see what's inside, which dish it will make and how far along it is. Put in two of everything for a double batch. Serve with what the dish needs: a clay plate, a bowl, an enamel mug, a gourd cup (cuia) or a bottle.
Every player starts with Caderno da Vó (Grandma's Notebook), a book with every recipe.
A taste of the menu
- Minas Gerais: pão de queijo, feijão tropeiro, tutu à mineira, frango com quiabo, angu, couve refogada, torresmo, leitão à pururuca, vaca atolada, canjiquinha, bambá de couve, doce de leite, goiabada, Romeu e Julieta, ambrosia, pé de moleque, canjica, broa and bolo de fubá, cafezinho… and Minas cheese that cures on the table, from fresh to meia-cura to Queijo Canastra.
- Bahia: acarajé, vatapá, moqueca baiana, bobó de camarão, cocada
- North: açaí na tigela, açaí with fried fish, tacacá (with jambu that makes your mouth tremble), guaraná
- Northeast: tapiocas, cuscuz, baião de dois, carne de sol, bolo de rolo, cartola, coalho cheese
- Southeast: feijoada (it makes you sleepy), moqueca capixaba, coxinha, pastel, virado à paulista, bauru
- South: churrasco skewers (picanha, linguiça, chicken hearts, coalho cheese), pão de alho, chimarrão, arroz carreteiro, cuca, barreado
- Center-West: arroz com pequi (don't bite the stone!), galinhada, pamonha, empadão goiano, sopa paraguaia, chipa, tereré
- Everywhere: arroz e feijão, the prato feito, brigadeiro, beijinho, quindim, pudim, carrot cake, paçoca, popcorn
Farming
- 13 crops: cassava, corn, black beans, rice, collards, okra, garlic, onion, tomato, malagueta pepper, jiló, peanuts and jambu.
- 12 fruit bushes: coffee, guava, jabuticaba, açaí, coconut, passion fruit, banana, pequi, cashew, yerba mate, guaraná and dendê palm.
Wild crops and bushes grow in savannas, plains, swamps, jungles, forests and on beaches. Breaking grass sometimes drops seeds, and fishing sometimes brings up shrimp.
