The sculk latch mod is a mod that adds multiple sculk, and deep dark related concepts from youtuber; Blockixel Artistry, to minecraft!

Blockixel Artistry thought of multiple ideas regarding the deep dark in his radio artistry series, and this mod adds most of them to minecraft! Featuring a brand new type of bundle, a new way to lock away your items and more; the sculk latch will make you want to explore the eery deep dark again!

If you are a Blockixel enjoyer, just like us, you may be asking your self: "What about the rest?". Well you'll be happy to hear the we are planing on making all of his concepts, with the exception of a few. (more on that in the linked discord) And especially if you are a modder, with too much time, we ask you to join the discord and read through the "I want to help development" channel to see if you could join the team. But we are also happy to see you join for any other reason, even if it's just asking how it's going.

Features

Sculk Latch brings new items and features to minecraft, here's all new features explained to you one by one.

Sculk Latch Bundle

The first, and most prominent feature of the sculk latch mod is the sculk latch bundle. It is a new version of the already existing (however not yet implemented) bundle, which this mod also temporarily brings back into the game. The sculk latch bundle is an item that is incapable of despawning when dropped. Not only that, it also consumes nearby dropped items on death. What that means is, basically, when you die (and have the sculk latch bundle in your inventory), the bundle will suck up 10 stacks max. These will remain in the bundle until a player picks it up. All of those items will then be retrieved. Your items will be safe from virtually everything; fire, lava, explosions and like said before; despawning. It is the ultimate late-game item to have on you.

Worry not, it is not completely useless for hardcore players. The sculk latch bundle will also function as a normal bundle. After death the bundle will still store 10 stacks even if there's already items inside.

So, how does one craft the bundle? Easy! The sculk latch bundle is crafted using a bundle, and a new item: the sculk latch, in a shapeless recipe. As follows:

• 1 sculk latch
• 1 bundle

Sculk Latch

The sculk latch (used to craft the sculk latch bundle) is a new item found in the deep dark. Ancient cities, to be exact. The item itself it purely used for crafting recipes, including some in other mods. For example, a sculk latch is used to craft the "amethyst shield" in the amethyst shield mod. Sculk latches can be found in a new type of chest in ancient cities. The "sculk chest", more on those later. The sculk latch is rather rare, so good luck finding one!

Sculk Chest

Like said before, the sculk latch can be found in sculk chests. So what are sculk chests? A sculk chest is a new type of chest that naturally generates in ancient cities. It can also be replicated by placing a normal chest on top of a sculk catalyst. A sculk chest is special, it won't open when right clicked. This is because of the sculk that is keeping the lid shut. To make the sculk let go; one has to ring the amethyst bell, a new item. After ringing the bell, the chest will open for just a few seconds. So be fast! When placing a named chest on a sculk catalyst; the chest will keep its name. Named chests will only respond to amethyst bells with the exact same name. This way players can keep their items safe from other players!

Amethyst Bell

The amethyst bell is a new item that can be rung on right click. It will open any nearby (unnamed) sculk chests for a few seconds. It can be crafted like this:

• 4 amethyst shards
• 1 village bell

Sculk Jaw

When venturing into the deep dark, one might now find a new sculk block: the sculk jaw. The sculk jaw is a trap block. This means that if the player were to step into one, they'd be trapped! The sculk jaw will trap the player inside it like powdered snow, and slowly deal damage until the player has died. To escape the jaw, you have to hit the jaw enough; after which it will be on cooldown for a short amount of time.

As seen above; the sculk jaw blends in rather well with its' environment.
