Description

I hope you brought change!

Welcome to “SERE”! a mod I made initially for my own private RP server, the main idea was to make a couple of items that enticed my friends to drive the server economy by themselves and expand the way of trading goods and services besides just exchanging stacks of diamonds.

Why would you like to use SERE?

Firstly, items require a LOT of space for transportation, secondly, diamonds are a “finite” resource which is good, but it brings a lot of problems such as: how to buy low quantities of common resources such as dirt, cobblestone, and other blocks? Some might suggest using different ores, but then surges the third problem, random exchange rates surging such as 1 stack of iron equals 1 gold ingot (problems that appeared in my RP server).

Going back to the last problem, wouldn’t it be nice to have a fixed exchange rate that can be converted into others so payments are standardized, that can be exchanged back to its ore value (Gold standard baby!), that can be compacted more efficiently and could use it to get other currencies with an equivalent value exchange rate?

There were a bunch of “money” and “coins” mods out there, but none solved the problems I was specifically facing, some didn’t have feasible ways of exchanging currencies, others just had one tier of currency, and the rest didn’t have enough content for what I was looking for.

So that’s how “SERE” came to be, as a solution to a lot of problems that surge when managing an economy-based RP server, the result ended so much better than I expected so I decided to make a version of it to share without all the other modded content that I made for my server (which weren’t economy related).

What do SERE features?

  1. -          Coins
  2. -          Bills
  3. -          Bundles (Original sprites still under work)
  4. -          A set of different tiers of currency which include Copper, Iron, Gold, Diamond
  5. -          Ways of turning ores into currency and back
  6. -          Ways of exchanging tiers of currency with an equivalent exchange rate.
  7. -       A set of documents for deep RP such as: Property deeds, Retail permits, Loan Solicitations, Loan registry and bank receipts.
  8. -    An easy and cheap way to duplicate documents/receipts and make display versions of it (so no one can steal your deed while you are displaying it on an item frame 😉)
  9. -    A set of badges that gives only certain players the power to assign deeds (Bankers and mods) alongside citizenship badges and retail badges (Retailer’s badge has no use as of now besides flexing, might add some things with enough feedback of future features)

Items descriptions and crafting

Coins can be obtained by exchanging the equivalent ore using the Coiner’s hammer on a crafting table, if you want your ores back, place the coins back on the crafting table.

Each currency has 3 forms: coins, bills and bundles: 9 of one is equivalent to 1 of the next, good for compacting money, 9 coins of one currency are equal to 1 of the next tier at a 9:1 exchange rate (1 copper bill a.k.a. 9 copper coins = 1 iron coin).

For that you could just place 1 bill or bundle on the crafting table alongside a Temporary or permanent exchange bond (Crafted by using permits and coins); temporary exchange bonds suffer damage when exchanging tiers so be careful what you exchange for; they are also used to downgrade a tier; placing 1 coin will give you 1 bill of the previous tier.

Property deeds and retail permits are documents that only bankers and mods can assign to a specific area, the way is simple enough, a banker or a mod just need to right click on the deed while having his respective badge anywhere on his inventory, the Deed/retail permit format is as follows: “(Property/Retail permit) # (Current X and Z position minus 5 blocks)-(Current X and Z position plus 5 blocks)” Example of a Deed name: “Property # 60-100-65-90” (X: 65, Z: -95), this will also give a reciept that the banker/mod can keep.

Loans solicitation are more complex; a solicitor should be holding in his offhand any item besides air named after the currency with the exact quantity they want to loan, (32 papers named “diamond coins” for example), then right click the loan solicitation, after that, the loan solicitation paper should be renamed by itself giving the exact information such as player’s name, quantity and currency they want to get a loan, after that a banker or mod WITH HIS BADGE ON THEIR OFFHAND should right click the solicitation to approve it, the solicitation should become a Loan receipt with the information of who approved the transaction.

When a player pays his loan (interests are up to each banker/mod/owner) any banker or mod can right click the Loan receipt with their badge on their offhand and it will become a Loan paid receipt.

Each of the last documents will also give a receipt which will have all the information about the original document, which could be used by banks to keep track of every transaction, besides RP it does not have any other use.

Each document except the loan receipt can be duplicated by the player holding paper on it’s off-hand and right clicking the document, the process consumes 1 paper from player’s inventory, it retains the original info.

As for the Deeds and Retail permits players can get a display copy while holding one ink on their off hand consuming the ink, they display the original info but can be used to prevent property theft and be able to display your ownership of a place/store (Ribbon on display copy is purple).

For all recipes I recommend using JEI for displaying all the recipes since all the items have a fair way to be obtained and not breaking the system (as for now badges can only be crafter by those who have Ancient badges a.k.a. mods).

Special thanks!

Big props to SERE's artist SolarFinch who without his help, the mod wouldn't had such beautifull coins models.

If you want to support him or request some neat sprites commission, soon he will have a patreon, please go support SERE's artist if you can.

Finally, the models for the Coiner's hammer, the deeds and the documents were obtained via itch io free sprites assets, go support the artists via a donation if you can.

Doing sprites is really difficult, so really give them your appreciation.
