Bring more life to your world with Simply Birds! Discover seven peaceful bird species, each with its own 3D model, sounds, preferred habitats, and distinctive egg. Watch them wander, swim or fly, follow food, and pair up; their chicks follow nearby adults and grow over time.

🐦 Meet the birds

• Speckled Quail: Plains, sunflower plains, and meadows.
• Mallard: Rivers, swamps, and mangrove swamps.
• Meadow Goose: Plains, meadows, and rivers.
• Blue Macaw: Jungles, sparse jungles, and bamboo jungles.
• Peacock: Forests, flower forests, birch forests, and dark forests.
• Penguin: Snowy beaches and frozen oceans.
• Snowy Owl: Taigas, snowy plains, and ice spikes.

Birds naturally appear in small groups in their preferred vanilla biomes.

🍃 Food, breeding & growing

Feed two adults of the same species to breed them. Quails, mallards, geese, macaws, and peacocks follow vanilla seeds and pitcher pods; penguins follow raw cod; snowy owls follow raw chicken or raw rabbit. Chicks grow naturally and can grow faster when fed.

🥚 Eggs & drops

Adult birds lay their own species-specific eggs every 5–10 minutes. Throw an egg for a vanilla-style chance to hatch a chick of that species. Adults drop their species' meat, which can be cooked, and may drop vanilla feathers. Each bird's meat has its own balanced food value.

Simply Birds is compatible with Simply Eggs: use the birds' eggs in every Simply Eggs recipe that requires an egg.

UPDATE 1.1.0 — THE OSTRICH

A new bird arrives: the Ostrich, a fast mount for the early game, before you have elytra.

Where to find them

Ostriches roam savannas in small groups. They are rarer in deserts and badlands.

Food and trust

Ostriches eat like birds: seeds, wheat, hay bales, apples, sweet berries and melon slices. Feed a wild ostrich to earn its trust: green sparkles show your progress. When it is ready, it answers with a burst of sparkles and a call.

Taming and riding

Like a horse, mount it until it accepts you, then put on a saddle to ride it. Ostriches carry one rider. They are faster than most horses but have less health and a lower jump.

Watch out

Wild adult ostriches defend themselves: they spread their wings, hiss and deliver a kick.

Breeding, eggs and drops

Breed two ostriches with golden carrots or golden apples. Chicks inherit their parents' speed, jump and health. Ostriches lay giant eggs, and a thrown egg may hatch a chick. They drop raw ostrich meat, which you can cook.

• New texture for the peacock egg.
• Cooked peacock meat now restores 3.5 drumsticks.
