About

Description

SimplyTemp

A temperature survival mod for Minecraft.

SimplyTemp tracks both the environmental temperature (the air around you) and your character's core body temperature. Instead of changing instantly, your body temperature adjusts gradually based on your surroundings. Extreme heat or cold will eventually apply debilitating debuffs and lethal damage.

Features

Gradual Temperature Changes: Body heat drops or rises slowly over time depending on the environment, giving you time to seek shelter and plan your expeditions.

Volumetric Heating: Heat and cold spread through open air using a flood-fill system, but are blocked by solid walls. This allows you to realistically insulate and heat enclosed rooms or cabins.

Hardcore Exposure Mechanics: The environment fights back. Temperature drops significantly at higher altitudes, and severe weather (blizzards and thunderstorms) applies massive Wind Chill penalties if you are exposed to the sky.

Armor & Curios Modifiers: Equip specific clothing to alter your temperature resistance. Wearing cold-weather gear in hot environments actively penalizes you, trapping your body heat. Server configs allow you to assign custom warming or cooling values to any vanilla or modded wearable item.

Wetness & Freezing: Clothing absorbs water from rain or swimming based on its water resistance. Wet clothes lose cold insulation but increase heat resistance. In sub-zero temperatures, wet clothing freezes, nullifying cold protection and applying a movement debuff. Clothes dry passively, near heat sources, or instantly upon entering the Nether.

Primitive Crafting & Loot: Start your journey by crafting primitive survival gear (like Rabbit Fur Hats and Nomad's Linen Tunics) to survive the elements. Later, explore the world to find highly durable, modern gear (like Expedition Parkas and Thermal Undershirts) integrated into vanilla loot tables.

Decaying Gear & Repair System: Clothing takes damage over time. Find or craft Sewing Kits to repair your torn thermal gear in the crafting grid using leather, wool, or string before it falls apart.

No Sleeping in the Cold: You can no longer bypass the freezing night. If your room isn't warm enough, or your insulation isn't thick enough, the game will prevent you from sleeping in a bed, warning you that you would freeze to death or suffer a heatstroke in your sleep.

Valkyrien Skies Compatibility: Temperature sources (like heaters, coolers, or furnaces) work correctly on moving ships and accurately heat the ship's interior.

HUD Overlay: Displays a visual gauge and text above your hotbar showing both your core body temperature and the current environmental temperature. Can be toggled between Celsius and Fahrenheit in the client settings.

Highly Configurable: Server configs (simplytemp_common) allow you to define exactly which vanilla or modded blocks emit heat or cold, how strong the effect is, how far it spreads, and what the baseline temperatures are for every biome type.
