Description
Skada is a framework mod that overhauls Minecraft's damage system. It does so by expanding in the direction of traditional JRPG/CRPG combat, which I believe is the correct direction for the game. The mod is built with a polish-first mentality, and maximum compatibility in mind.
Features
- Elemental Damage and Resistance
- Attack Types
- Stat GUI
- Bestiary
Elemental Damage and Resistance
The core of Skada's system is moving from a single damage (Attack Damage) and resistance (Armour) attribute to multiple parallel attributes, enabling diversity of weapon, armour, and mob archetypes.
Skada splits the vanilla attack damage attribute into 7 elemental attributes: Heat, Cold, Lightning, Ender, Wither, Aether, and Physical. How attack damage gets split is decided on a per weapon basis. For example, a sword might have 8 attack damage, with an elemental split of 75%/25% heat/cold. These values are shown on the item's tooltip.
All 7 elements have corresponding resistance attributes that are owned by entities. The vanilla armor attribute has been reworked to only reduce Physical damage. It has no effect against any of the other elements.
It is not strictly necessary to know the exact math formulas used for damage calculation, but that information is available on my github wiki.
