Description
🚀 Sky Racers: Jetpack Edition 🏁
![]()
Soar through dynamic aerial tracks and compete for the top spot in high-speed jetpack races in the exhilarating "Sky Racers: Jetpack Edition".
Sky Racers: Jetpack Edition is an exciting Minecraft mod that lets players engage in high-speed jetpack racing through the skies.
Developed for the Modjam - Minecraft Modding Madness, this mod offers a dynamic gameplay experience focused on speed, agility, and precision flying.
Features ✨
- Jetpacks: Fly through the world at high speeds with powerful jetpacks. 🛠️
- Race Tracks: Create and define custom tracks with start, checkpoint, and finish blocks. 🏁
- Multiple Tracks: Support for multiple race tracks to test your skills. 🏎️
- Weekly Updates: The mod is continuously expanding with new content and features. 🔄
Tutorial Map 🗺️
To help you get started, take a look at the Tutorial Map available on CurseForge. This map provides an introduction to the mod's mechanics and features, allowing you to practice flying and racing in a controlled environment.
Controls 🎮
Most of the controls are focused on flying and maneuvering the jetpack. The controls are designed to provide a smooth and intuitive flying experience.
- Space: Ascend (increase altitude)
- Shift: Descend (decrease altitude)
- W: Move forward (accelerate)
- A: Move left (strafe)
- S: Move backward (decelerate)
- D: Move right (strafe)
- C (X for Fabric): Decrease Jetpack Power (configurable)
- V: Increase Jetpack Power (configurable)
- STRG: Boost (temporary speed increase)
Creating Tracks 🏁
To create a new track, you need to place the following blocks in the world:
- Start Block: Defines the starting
- Finish Block: Indicates the end of the track
You can also add Checkpoint Blocks to create a more challenging track with multiple checkpoints. The mod will automatically detect former blocks and will use their track information.
To make sure that the automatic detection works correctly, you should place the blocks in the correct order: Start Block -> Checkpoint Blocks -> Finish Block
If you need to place additional checkpoints after you already placed the finish block, you can use
the checkpoint command to update the number of expected checkpoints.
However, you can use the F3 Debug Screen to see the current track id and the current checkpoint id.
Change Track ID
You can change the track id of a block and their neighbours blocks by using the track command.
This command requires the block position and the new track id as arguments.
/sky_racers_jetpack_edition track set <Block Position> <Track ID>
If you have a block in your hand and looking at a track block, the position will be automatically auto-suggested.
Example: /sky_racers_jetpack_edition track set -1032 182 -76 4
Note: Normally you don't need to change the track id manually, but it can be useful for debugging purposes or to fix issues.
Change Number of Checkpoints for the Finish Block
The finish block tries to detect the number of checkpoints automatically.
However, you can change the number of expected checkpoints by using the checkpoint command.
This will update the finish block and all connected blocks with the new number of checkpoints.
/sky_racers_jetpack_edition checkpoint set num <Block Position> <Number of Checkpoints>
Example: /sky_racers_jetpack_edition checkpoint set num -992 179 -107 1
Highscores 🏆
The mod will track the best times for each track and display them in the game. At the moment, the highscores could be displayed in the chat in the future, they will be displayed in a separate screen and/or directly in the world.
You can also use the highscore command to display the current highscores over all tracks with:
/sky_racers_jetpack_edition highscore show
If you are only interested in the highscores for a specific track, you can use the track id as an additional argument:
/sky_racers_jetpack_edition highscore show <Track ID>
Currently, in Testing 🧪
The mod is currently in its testing phase and receives weekly updates to introduce new features and refine existing content.
I am open to feedback, suggestions, and ideas! Since the mod is developed as part of the * Modjam - Minecraft Modding Madness*, I welcome community input to help improve and expand the experience. 📝
The prototype jetback has no fuel limit, so you can fly indefinitely. This is to allow testing of the flying mechanics, later versions will introduce fuel limits and refueling mechanics.
Future Plans 🔮
- Porting to Other Minecraft Versions: After the testing phase, the mod will be made available for additional Minecraft versions. ⛏️
- New Jetpacks, Track Types, and Challenges: Regular updates will introduce more content and features. ✈️
